Well, while it is indeed not the VA's fault... I just can't watch the dub because their voices give me a headache... I don't hate them or anything like that. But of all the complaints you could have (name changes, plot changes, line changes, episode cut-outs, scene alterations) at least those had some sort of point (for CHILDREN so they could remember the names, so they wouldn't get confused, so they wouldn't see anything inappopriate) but seriously... what POSSIBLE reason could they have had for those TERRIBLE voices? >_< do they want to make children across America go deaf? lol

The dub-just like the subtitles and the originals-has its good points and bad points. I'd like to point out that if it hadn' of been for the US dub,I would've never known Sailor Moon and I would'nt be here talking with other Sailor Moon fans. Also,I'm learning to stop focusing on the bad points of the originals and the subtitles, and I found I tend to enjoy the originals/subs more when I'm focusing on the good points. The same goes for the US dub: If you only focus only on the bad points of the dub, then how can you enjoy it? If I can learn to get over the squeaky voices and the lack of personality in the originals, then I would think certain people here can learn to get over Luna's "nanny voice" and how they cut out certain things.

I really don't see how there's a "lack of personality" in the original. Do explain.

I didn't see any of the distinctive(SP?) personalites that the dub had..Haruka didn't seem like a butch female...Melvin/Umino didn't seem like a goofy nerd...Michiru didn't seem all that feminine...maybe it's just me;I guess I'm used to seeing distinctive personilaties in the cartoons I watch. The characters just seemed like ordinary everyone average people to me.

So... Haruka's motorcycle/car racing and cross-dressing didn't make her seem butch? Umino stalking Usagi and carrying notes and pictures on just about everyone isn't nerdy (or creepy, rather)?
I can clearly see distinct personalities in them. Usagi is goofy, yet kind-hearted. Minako has high ambitions and likes to chase boys. Rei is passionate with a short temper. A lot of those personalities remained in the dub, they were just... kind of tweaked a bit. Like someone said earlier in the thread, I see Serena and Usagi as two different people, along with Raye and Rei. Although they had the same characteristics, some of the personalities were changed too much to be the same character.

To be completely honest, I just can't stand watching anything in another language, as I said in another topic. What can I say? I'm very stubborn when it comes to actually hearing English or not. Subs only help to a point, so I'll stick to English dub.

I'm far from a Sailormoon purist, so I chose "It's horrible but I still watch it." I loved it so much as a little girl, and even though both dubbing companies did a marvelous job of Americanizing it (sarcasm ftw), it still kept a lot of the same charm as the original Japanese.
If I had a choice, I'd still always prefer Japanese though. For srs. :3
