I don't hate the NA however, the fact the show gives a homophobic reaction by changing characters genders like Fish Eye not fisheye! Also for ruining the romance of Haruka and Michiru! If they have a problem with lesbians, why did they make them cousins?! That's sick! Who ever changed them to cousins is sick minded That's soo argh! Besides that ...I can't stand their english names, and english voices. Also they ruin the depth of characters like: Rei, Makoto, Minako etc. I mean really, I wish it was just set as it was subbed not dubbed and not messed around with

Yeah. The whole "cousin" things still irks me. *shivers* what is WRONG with these people!!! Also the way they changed Zoisite....That still scares me. Even as a little kid I knew that was a man!

For me, the whole character changing thing is weird. I view "Usagi" and "Serena" as two different people. "Usagi" is the more human-like one, and "Serena" is the annoying one who uses '80s slang. Is that just me?

I voted for five because its the closest to my answer I could find. I don't have a problem with it at all. In fact I downright enjoy it! By the way I am familliar with many of the changes that were made since I went looking around the internet to find them and I can understand why they were made:
1. some cultural references were taken away. 2. scenes with either violence and death were sencored. (The show is directed mainly toward kids.) Although one thing puzzles me about this, why didn't they take out the part when Nephrite dies or at least change it. Did they forget to take that out? Or maybe they thought that it was an important part? Or even it could be something beyond my comprehenshon. If you think about it, a guy getting large branch like spikes pushed all the way through his chest isn't kid-friendly television. There are more changes and things taken away that I found out there, but I probably am speeking too much now so I'll try to wrap this up. As for things like different and annoying voices in the North American version, they don't bother me. I find that they are just minor things that don't seem to contribute much to the story and I simply just ignore them.
This is only my opinion. I really mean no disrespect for those who like the original Japanese version and I hope no one gets offended by what I have said especially since, as I countlessly reminded you guys (sorry), I have only seen the North American version and probably don't belong in this thread until I see the original.

5) I know it's inaccurate, but I like it some.
I do like the Japanese a lot better, but when I was little, I knew no other way. I know it's a lot worse, but it's all I had. I'm sorry, I'm just glad they aired Sailormoon period in the US.

I also dislike the American dub a lot, but hey, its the first way that I discovered Sailor Moon, and I guess I at least have to give it some credit for that. I can tolerate the voices of the first two seasons, but when they changed them throughout the last two they aired on television, It really ticked me off. As if the voices hadn't been bad enough already, and they had to change them to completely horrible ones? At least ChibiUsa's voice throughout S & SuperS was a little better in the English dub.... Well, I guess I voted for the one that says I watch it cause I tolerate it enough, although I still prefer the original Japanese compared to the dub.

I am not at all sure about this but I think that the reason that the voices changed in the other two seasons because a new company baught the rights from Dic. If I remember right Dic wasn't part of the list of associated companies that were shown at the end of each show. By the way I still am confused about why they showed the death scene with Nephrite. Parts of it seemed very violent and gorey.

That's it, Cloverway! Thanks. I also think I understand that Nephrite's death scene was supposed to be an important part of the plot. I suppose they kept the graphic imagery to make his death more dramatic and memorable.

I am still blissfully unknowing about how awful everything sounds. But "Uranus World Chicken" ...? I would like take this moment to thank everyone and everything that led to my watching the German dub.

This is late I know but I wanted to add my share. The dub is what introduced me to Sailor Moon, so I have to give it points for that. Also if they showed Nephrite's scene, why didn't they show Tux's? I mean I know that was important, both of them right? I watch the dubs because they are quite funny, one line that just cracks me up and makes me hide under the covers is the end of R when Usa and Chibi are fighting Death Phantom "Doom Phantom, go away forever, ahhhhhhh" it's almost embarrassing really. I haven't had the joy of watching the Japanese version of that part yet, well I did watch laser disc 10 (first thing I bought back then of SM) but there was no subtitles for it so I have no idea what they say. Also one thing that gets me is Pluto's attack, it's suppose to be quietly said (Dead Scream) not screamed (Pluto Deadly Scream!)! And I hate when Usagi is revealed as the Moon Princess, they ruined that part in the NA dub. Her wailing in English is gah I have to fast forward or mute it it's so terrible! Her voice in the first two aren't quite that bad but then it gets worse, that's what happens when the actresses grow up because they took too long to dub it. Then they try and go back to the way they sounded before but came out worse. IMO Makoto's was alright, it really didn't change much and it wasn't all high pitched either. Tux's was just plain weird and quite annoying going back and forth from nosey to deep back to nosey, sounded like he was trying to talk out of his nose and not his mouth.
I'm curious as to know if other dub languages are better the NA ones.

Anyway-I think the subtitles stink something awful!I've only gotten frustrated by trying to read the subtitles and trying to catch the action at the same time. Those subs are downright annoying!True, they made Haruka and Michiru cousins, and made Zoicite a lady,,but that's only minor.I say dub over sub anytime!

The dub introduced me to the show, but the subs are superior. I have no trouble with reading the subititles and catching the action at the same time.
