I personally think some of you are acting very stupid and childish about the dub voices."Wanting to make me throw up"? Isn't that what spiteful 3-year-olds say about things? After seeing this thread,I've lost what little respect I had left for dub-bashers. I'm sorry, but I really did have a sickening queasy feeling inside. Hunk-a-saurus. Come on. And Usagi's grandmother like voice.

It's just something Minako thinks about Haruka...I cannot see why that would make you feel queasy inside. And Usagi sounded nothing like a grandmother;perhaps you're thinking about Michiru/Michelle,who kind of had a nice soft grandmother-type voice.Michiru's voice in the dub kind of sounds like the voice my late grandmother had-soft and kindly.

I admit the dub is cheesy, though I never hated it. I love it really... though at the same time I kind of hate it, but not because the voices are really that bad, I just think that the dialogue could have been better, and the voices could have been more consistent... basically the constructive technical stuff only bothers me.

The only voice I'm not really a fan of(Figureitivly) is Mecurys. She just says her stuff blah. Usagis...Just you need to get used to it. Rei's voice is kinda sweet, but it's gets...er...Grinding.

It wasn't just what Minako said. It was the voices as well. Usagi just sounded way too old... actually, her voice reminded me of the English voice for Jessie in Pokemon. Which probably got on my nerves a lot. And Haruka and Michiru's voice were just so monotone and emotionless. Haruka sounded like she was lowering her voice on purpose... like in TV shows when a girl tries to act like a guy and they lower their voice to be funny? Not to mention the dialogue was totally changed. I saw another episode where the first thing I heard was Rei's 'I am fire, fire is light. I am flame, flame is sight.' The first 9 seconds and I was already cringing. And then she repeated it over and over and over.... x.X I closed it out immediately. But here's a better example:
Dub:
Usagi: I’ll be so glad when these marathon study buddy torture sessions at Rei’s are ancient history, they’re so boring. Be strong girl. If anyone needs to study, it’s you. Arcades and good grades don't mix! Minako: It was so funny Andrew, Artemis just can’t resist caramels so there he was with his mouth and whiskers all covered with sticky sugar. It reminded me of when Serena tries to chew bubble gum. Motoki: What a riot! Minako: Except Artemis doesn’t have a meatball head and he can actually walk and chew gum at the same time!! Usagi: I’m missing valuable study time because I came in here to save you from the evil temptations of fun!!! Motoki: My fault, Mina came in because I was totally bored. I was standing outside hoping I’d catch you guys on your way to Rei’s. Usagi: Our high school careers are valued on these tests! Motoki: They are? Minako: Clap your trap! Andrew needed a little female attention and who are we to waltz right by a cute boy in need. What kind of planet will our children inherit if we forget civil decency?
Japanese:
Usagi: Oh man… We’re studying for entrance exams again at Rei’s place today… I can’t, I can’t! I have to bear it until the entrance exams are over! Everyone else is doing their best too! Minako: That’s right! And artemis didn’t get the hint, and ate another caramel! And of course the carmel got stuck into his tooth… and because he’s cat, he couldn’t pry off the carmel stuck onto his tooth… and he was squriming around so much… Usagi: I was thinking everyone else was doing their best, so I was keeping myself away… and yet you’re here… Motoki: No I lured Minako in here I asked her if she wanted to come in once in a while because she could get too tired from studying too much. Usagi: Don’t you think you’re being a little easy on her? Motoki: Um… er… no? Minako: Usagi! We’re only young once! What happens if we fail our entrance exams? Won’t you think? ‘Oh I wish I had been playing and having fun back then’?
I have to admit that when I was little, I did watch the dubs. (six years old, I think? when they were on cartoon network). But I guess that after watching the Japanese, it's just not the same.

The Japanese one is just so dull and boring compared to the US dub,in my opinion. In the Japanese one, everyone just seems too adult and lacking in personality. The dub at least has some personality. In the Japanese originals,Haruka sounded like she ate a bunch of chalk to make her voice sound softer;it sounded like she was bored to tears while she was talking. She gave me the impression that she was just another ordinary woman with a soft voice.;the US dub gave her personality and her masculine voice made her stick out from every other woman in Japan.
In the Japanese original,Michiru sounded like Rocky the Flying Squirrel after he's had waaay to much sugar;in the US dub,she has a nice soft voice that actaully fits her elegant personality.
But to be fair, even the dub has some voices that I don't like.Anyone remember Grandpa Hino's voice up to Season 3?His voice was harsh;in Season 3,he has a more tolerable voice. And Seren's voice in Seasons 3 and 4...it sounds like she's about to freak out at any moment now.And even I admit Fisheye sounded too feminine in the US dub...it's as bad as his Japanese voice(which makes him sound like a beaver with a toothache).
And Zirconia in the US dub sounds like Yoda with a head cold; Her Japanese voice was no better-she sounded like one of the chipmunks with laryngitis.

Well, Japanese is a completely different dialect and their voices are pretty different-sounding. Some of the dub voices were good, but most made me cringe.
Also, I'd like to point out that not all grandmas have soft voices; my grandma sounds almost EXACTLY like Usagi did in the dub. Luna sounded really grandma-ish too.

They tried to make him a girl, yet they did absolutely NOTHING when he took his shirt off in that one episode with the fashion desinger. Go figure.....

I didn't Haruka had a masculine voice at all. All it sounded to me was horribly monotone and emotionless. And I dunno, I think the Japanese one just sounds more natural. That also may be because my mom can speak Japanese and I've been to Japan, so I'm used to it, but it just seems more natural to me in Japanese. I mean, they are a bit high-pitched, but Asian people generally have higher voices. I mean, some of the dub voices are tolerable. I just can't stand Usagi's or Haruka or Michiru's. But it's not just the voices that make the dubs annoying, it's that change of dialogue and the horrible slang they throw in. The attacks were already in English in the Japanese, but why did they have to go and change it?

I must agree with you about the slang...Michelle saying "Big Dweeb"? Come on now-"Big Dweeb" is something I expect to hear some cartoon animal like Daffy Duck or Rude Dog to say,not from someone elegant like Michelle/Michiru. "Hunkasaurus " isn't bad,but "Hunksterette"?The first time I heard that,I actaully said "Hunksterette? Gimmie a break...." And I thought the Japanese dialogue was bad....

Haha yes, and their bad valley-girl like language. You can blame that on movie "Clueless" which was very popular with the pre-teen set at the time of the SM dub's release. One can only imagine how it would have turned out had the SM dub came out at the time of the movie "Mean Girls".....
