I'm not a very big anime person -- I don't have much time to sit down and watch anime, so I prefer to read manga as I get through it a LOT quicker. But besides Sailor Moon (dur), I also love (in no particular order):
- Fullmetal Alchemist [3 DVDs away from finishing my collection! ;D] - Cowboy Bebop - Trigun - Dragonball Z - Lucky Star - Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Chobits - XXXHOLiC - Cardcaptor Sakura - FLCL - Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z

I didn't find PGSM confusing at all. I started with Act 1, watched my way through the series, then watched Act 0 last. I still haven't watched the Special Act... heh.
Honestly, I found the manga a little more confusing than PGSM, but that's just me!

I got Sailor Luna for the senshi test. Nyaaan~ *shakes butt* For villains, I got Zoisite. Hmm, I'd better go put that piano to use. As a Shitennou, I got Kunzite. Crap, I hated PGSM Kunzite.

I recently started roleplaying some minor manga characters again, and since Ruruna is one of them, it led me to wonder: are Naruru and Ruruna supposed to be ganguro? For those who don't know, ganguro is a Japanese fashion trend where girls try to achieve a valley-girl/hip-hop look. The result is pretty creepy, and usually involves lots and lots of fake tans. Anyway, in Chibiusa's Picture Diary, they show up looking fresh and crispy: In this artbook picture -- the only color picture of them -- they look nice, normal, and pale. Ganguro didn't really take off as a fashion trend until about 2000 or so, but I think it began at some point in the '90s. Either way, Naruru and Ruruna display a lot of ganguro traits. Or maybe Occam's Razor rears its ugly head and says they're just otaku who love fashion items.

I'm kind of torn on the lack of a bust seam. I kind of like it because it provides a nice flowing look to the bodysuit, but at the same time it makes it look like they just pinned stuff onto a one-piece bathing suit and wore a skirt over it! I would love to see an outfit with the knife-pleated layered skirt, sort of like what Sera Myu did, with the primary color on the top layer and the accent color on the bottom layer. That would look really spiffy.
Oh wow Rissachu, I never thought about the sleeves looking like they're straight out of the 80s. Now I'm so tempted to design a sailor senshi uniform full of neon and fishnet and slap bracelets and 80s fashion trends.

Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks the final Sailor Senshi uniforms in the manga are... well, kinda ugly?
They're unique, don't get me wrong. I love the layered skirt and the ribbons around the waist. The long gloves are cool too. But what in the world is up with the ball-shaped sleeves? And Eternal Sailor Moon's outfit has too many colors, in my opinion. The red, blue, and yellow together would've been just fine. But to randomly throw pink in for the sleeves just looks unbalanced because there's no other pink in that outfit.
I've been thinking about it for a while because I've noticed the new fad on Youtube is to make "Eternal" transformations for the Sailor Team. (Of course, they mostly end with still shots of the senshi with new uniforms MS Painted on... ugh.) I keep seeing them and I want to yell "WHYYY? The final outfits were ugly and they all looked alike!"
I infinitely prefer Super Sailor Moon's outfit in both the manga and anime. The rainbowy effect on the skirt in the manga works really nicely because the outfit has so much white, but trying that on Eternal Sailor Moon's outfit... nah, doesn't work.

I'm really fond of Kousagi. I even wrote a fanfic about her a few years ago that's still floating around somewhere. She's just so cute! I also love Sailor Cosmos, Naruru and Ruruna/Sailor Guccici and Sailor Channel, and Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon.

I have all of the English Mixx/Tokyopop pocket manga. That's it, unfortunately. I'm going to work my way up to buying the reprints of Sailor Moon and Sailor V once I have disposable income again.

Yeah, I understand the Venus thing. I don't like how she had a yellow back bow; it blended into her hair and blue would've just looked better. I don't have any gripes about Moon either. I'm just wondering why Chibi Moon's in blue and red instead of pink and... pink. I missed that blue and green Jupiter, though.

Ah, I want that wig too! It's almost exactly like my natural hair color, and I've always cosplayed Usagi with dark blonde hair because I can never afford a wig. But that one's so pretty and so well-made! It actually looks kinda heavy.
Japanese fanart is so fun to look at. I'm amazed at how well Japanese fanartists do on oekaki boards. They make anything look cute or, if possible, cuter. I actually have a whole folder of Japanese SOUTH PARK fanart, and it's adorable. It's bugging me that they got some of the senshi's uniform colors wrong though.

My friend and I just finished the SuperS movie and we ended up having a discussion over who Chibiusa would end up with. Both are older than Chibiusa -- well, you can't really prove Perle is, but fairies are usually thousands of years older than humans. Both are magical beings. Both have an affinity for the color white! It seems like they're pretty evenly stacked. I have a hard time deciding between them! I lean towards Perle just because he's so adorable and he's closer to Chibiusa's size -- even though my theory that he's older might change that in a few years when Chibiusa hits a growth spurt. Also, my friend and I debated over whether or not Helios can be called a furry. But after watching the end of SuperS, I can't completely shove Helios to the side.

Oh, these are so much fun.
Tara Strong would make a great Palla Palla, or just as random little girls. Rachel Lillis (Jessie for Pokemon seasons 1-9) would probably make a good Minako! If they could rope Vic Mignogna into it without him acting like a total jerk, he could be a good Mamoru. Tress MacNeille could play Ikuko, and Billy West can be Shingo!
Tom Kenny would be great for random goofy monsters-of-the-day, as would Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life, Lazlo from Camp Lazlo), Grey DeLisle, and E.G. Dailey.
As for a deep evil guy voice, Peter Cullen as Professor Tomoe would be epicly awesome. Sam Vincent could be Safir, and for Galaxia I'm thinking either Colleen Clinkenbeard (Riza Hawkeye in Fullmetal Alchemist) or Laura Bailey (Lust, also from FMA).

R2s are crazy expensive. I agree, I don't know how Japanese people can afford them. Still, like a lunatic, I continue to shell out money for them! I bought mine from YesAsia so I would at least get free shipping, so that helped a bit. I started buying them with birthday/Christmas money so no one could say I wasted my hard-earned money, haha.
But if you really want nice quality and don't mind the lack of subtitles, I totally recommend getting one of the R2s. They're SO worth the money!
