I saw the entire season for the first time about 3 1/2 years ago. It would be pretty nice to have the season released on DVD, but since all of Sailormoon in the US is eventually going to be unlicensed, I highly doubt that Sailor Stars will be released here. It's sad, really.

I've seen it! I actually saw it right after Sailor Moon (Classic)... weird, hm?
But yea, I doubt it will be shown here. Which is just as well.. most people who are really into it get the Stars season somehow, and the original version is better anyway (in my opinion).

Not alot in U.S. has seen it because it won't ever be releashed out here. They had an whole issue about the American public's reaction to guys turning into girls and then one of them falling for Moon. And then there is no way they can keep up Uranus and Neptune are just "cousins" As they have in the previous seasons. And lastly, the whole, Moon flying around naked on the last episode. They were thinking of either coloring over it so she isn't naked or forgoing the entire thing.. they decided the entire thing shouldn't be shown. ;_;

yea, the Starlights are pretty crazy... I mean, I guess they could make them girls, and then cut the scenes where Seiya is falling for Usagi, or make it seem like they're just friends or whatever... but that would be completely silly, and would ruin the whole thing in my opinion. Also, I don't think the whole flying nude thing would go over really well... I guess they could color in something, but it would just look goofy... I guess some things are just better left in their original form Not alot in U.S. has seen it because it won't ever be releashed out here. The US started of seeing is as a show for children it seems. I think they still do in instances, so that affects it I'm sure.

The US just didn't do any "research" so to speak on Sailor Moon. They said "Hey, Japan gets money for Sailor Moon let's dub it and make some money!" without noting who the audience was. So they look at it and say, "Oh, it's a kiddie anime cartoon," after watching the first episode or something. Then they get the scissors and start chopping things out, messing things up, and turning it into what they thought it was. Only when they got to introducing Haruka and Michiru they dug themselves a hole because for the people who know Haruka and Michiru are NOT cousins and see the sexual innuedo, we're laughing about how now they've got incest in the anime between cousins. Somehow, I think leaving it as it was would've been much smarter.

well, I guess that is true - Americans are pretty greedy. But on the other hand, I don't think that Sailor Moon would have done as well in the US with preteens/adolescents as it has with younger children. It has been much more popular with the younger crowd than the older crowd, and even the toys can be marketed to the kids!
I just think that if it had come to the US as a show for older girls, it wouldn't have done well at ALL, would have lost its funding, and maybe only the first season would have been dubbed. It's just a matter of viewing audiences, I think!

I don't know that it would've done well if it had been marketed for preteens, adolescents, young adults. I look at it as the US thought it was for young children so they marketed it that way and for doing that I really don't think the dub is bad at all. If you compare it to the original it's harder because I don't think Japan marketed for younger children like the US, so it's completely different.
