So I was at work yesterday, drawing in between customers (yey for slow days!). I decided I wanted to reference a manga pose, so I hopped online over to the Oracle to print out some pictures. "ACCESS DENIED. This site is registered as a phonographic site. Its content is restricted on this connection; please disconnect immediately." Any idea what that's all about?

I have no idea. Someone else said that that happened to them on their school computer once as well. I'm not really sure what that's about, but I guess perhaps it's because the word "porno" is used on the site [see games section] and there are some nekkid pics from Sailor Moon manga and artbooks. That's the only thing I can figure!

site blockers are primative peices of crap so its not really that weird, there are two things that you can temporarily get round with generally but you probably don't want to be found getting around the system

There's a category for my site blocker: Hobbies.*crickets* Why, how DARE you have hobbies! The site blocker does not approve of your outside interests! My old high school blocked art sites, of all things. The things some blockers find unacceptable is really odd. After I graduated, I introduced some of my friends who were still in high school to proxies and watched the fun unfold.

This site isn't blocked at my school, but once my access was denied because some site had 'historical content'. We just use proxies these days.

Schools don't want you to have interests or hobbies, the government demands conformity

I just read that some parental controls even block sites with nudity in art such as Michaelangelo's David. Not only can you not have hobbies, but you also can't learn about art!! !!

Wow People are WAAAAY too close-minded these days V_V I mean I believe that kids obviously shouldn't be allowed to look at pornography at school, and maybe they shouldn't even be spending their time looking up things that are interesting, but... Firstly: It's the TEACHER'S job to be sure their students are working, and if the teachers don't care enough to look, then the school shouldn't care enough to take away what the students are looking at in their FREE TIME (not to mention in my school I tried to do a research paper on NATIVE AMERICANS a totally legitimate and extremely educational topic, and half the sites were BLOCKED from the school ) Secondly: What if they wanted to do a paper or project on their actual INTERESTS?! It's not like that's prohibited at school!!! and Thirdly: The school's shouldn't be controlling what the children see and do! I mean yes, to an extent. Of course there are CERTAIN things that kids shouldn't be doing/looking at at school, but I see plenty of them getting around it anyway!!! And they're only succeeding in blocking out those of us that have a totally legitimate/innocent reason for wanting to look at those sites!! It's not the school's place to tell us what we can and can't do for a project, it's the individual TEACHERS and THEY should be in charge of watching what the classes are doing, and making sure the students are doing their work. It's not that difficult. I am SO SICK of schools trying to take parent roles, that's why PARENTS are there in the first place, I mean I realize that a lot of them aren't the best parents in the world, but that's between the PARENT and the CHILD and is none of the school's business. They need to quit trying to step in where the parent 'isn't taking care of business' Yeah... sorry I got a little heated there... lol I seriously swear that more than half of todays schools and work places are trying to form us into some kind of robots....
