This seems to be a board that has a lot of Twilight fans balanced with people who dislike the books so I thought there would be some interesting discussion here. Read this article on DA, which is about violence between Twilight fans and from Twilight fans against the Twilight haters, which I'm calling "Twilence": news.deviantart.com/article/70133/To me, this is downright scary. I greatly dislike the books, but personally don't care if you like the books or not, at least you're reading. But...but...throwing acid in someone's face because they dislike it!? DDDDDD8

That is just plain horrible, and stupid. I don't even know if it's just a story or the truth. I think that anyone who does those kind of things is a psychotic and dangerous person, and here we don't speak about Twilight fans/haters, but about sick people. Stop.

WTF. Really?! If that is true, there is something awfully wrong with that girl. And the attacks in general, it's scary to think there are fans that obsessed. It's unbelievable, I can't imagine anyone who would go that far, even with something like religion, yet alone a fictional book! There are delusional fans willing to push their fandom to that extreme?! Something is seriously wrong with that girl and the others like her.
Thanks for posting this Ellethwen, although I do like Twilight, I still think that girl has serious issues.

Just reading that article is a bit scary. I honestly have no idea what the book is like, as I don't read books. I never seen the movie either. But still, people beating others almost to death, it seems, just because of their opinion? Sickening is all I can say about it. The idiots of society at it's best.

I can't believe that actually happened! I mean Twilight is just a book, how can someone get so obssesed about it!? That person is, indeed, dangerous and delusional.
I agree about this not being a like or dislike the saga kind of thread (which I like) this is about an insane girl doing something terrible.

This is seriously just WAY too over-the-top.
Assaulting people over a book? These people should be charged, and checked by a psychiatrist. Now, I for one absolutely love the Twilight saga, but I'm not about to grab the lead pipe I've got in my room and go bashing the kid up the street because he's not into vampire love stories.
That's all these Twilight Stephenie Meyer books are: Vampire Love Stories.
Not everybody's into vampires, and there are tonnes of guys who aren't into love stories (understandably enough), but you don't see cosplayers bashing up the average (for want of a much, much better word) because they don't like anime. My mother doedsn't really like it, and I don't get mad at her. Nor do you see the Galaxia-worshippers waging war against the Usagi-lovers.
Honestly, when I clicked on this link, I was half-expecting to find posts all about the "violence" in the books, and how it's an abomination, and how can we allow young teenagers to read it, and ra ra ra. I would've replied by saying, "Jeez, it's only a book: get over it." I find that I can actually say that (although not to you loveliest people fortunately) in this case.
This is the kind of lecture I'd love to give, if I was like a psychiatrist or something similar.
Notice to all People-In-General: Perhaps it might be safe to say that if you hear a person exclaiming their fiery passion/utter loathing of Twilight, it may be safe to stay a little quiet on your own opinion, unless you know these people well enough to think that they won't murder you (or at least slander you in any way).
Notice to all ETs (Extreme Twilighters): Sure, Edward/Jacob/Carlisle/Emmett/Jasper/Charlie/Esme may be all dead sexy or whatever, but at any rate, a book is just a book. It doesn't matter how good it is, it's not worth hurting someone over. If someone doesn't like it, then why should you care? Hitting them isn't going to change their mind. Perhaps they'll just be so unfortunate as to never realise how special Twilight really is.
Notice to all Anti-Twilighters: Everybody's entitled to their own, and you don't have to like it, or read it, but if you get to the point where you're practicing voodoo on fictitious characters, you're as bad as the ETs. Nobody should care if you don't like it, and while people shouldn't go around bashing you, make sure that you're not doing the provoking. If you're not, then fine, go ahead and press charges!
I wonder if I catered to everybody/everything. I tried. *looks up* Actually, based on what I've read about violence, I'm surprised that voodoo isn't up there yet.

Oh god not another obsessive twilight incident. that whole acid thing scares me. I mean i like the twilight series, but i mean i wouldn't try to kill someone just because they hate a character i like. ITS A BOOK PEOPLE!! i agree with you supremegoddess. They should be checked into an asylum. I mean if you try to kill someone over that you must be very very stupid. For example, my friend is a team Jacob fan, and i am a team Edward fan. I would never throw acid in her face or beat her with water bottles. (which i have no idea of why you would do that in the first place. it is just a book. Edward/Emmett/jasper/Jacob/carlisle/Esme/Bella/rose/and Alice are all just characters!! Who cares??? its not like they are real or anything. They are just fictional characters that Stephenie Meyer has come up with. And if you can come to facts with that..then you have a HUGE problem.
To be continued?
