Betty Ann, I was wondering if you cuold possibly make the episode downloads wmvs. I've been looking for SM eps/clips for so long for music videos and fandubs and I can't use the ones from The Oracle as they are rms. Sorry if I'm being a little demanding...

How'bout doing what everybody else does, convert them yourself(go to download.com or sourceforge.net for some high-quality-,-free converters) You must understand that WMVs are at least twice as large as RMVs, and that would mean a crapload amount of bandwidth chewed up! That, or simply ditch that crappy Windows Movie Maker edit: Oh and a small rant: You should know that AMVs are two-way copyright infringement! Once for taking video from an anime, and ripping it for you to publish, and once for taking an mp3 of some song you find cool, and ripping it to that ripped video and publish it for you beloved fans!

Hey, I never said "Don't do it!"! I'm just sick of fools[not directed at present company] asking things like "Why was my vid remvd from YT? Why did Bandai Animation send me a cease and desist letter? Why did Warner Bros. sue me?" Yea, I had a bad week! Oh, and for what is worth, if I had the money to actually buy/go see the movies I wanna see, and IF I could buy/see them, do you think I'd still download? Notice the fact that I didn't claim you all are downloading anime on a periodic basis. Ye pirates, you! Arrr!

Well, some of Sailor Moon actually isn't lisenced in several places anymore, so there can be some sticky copyright issues.,.
But yeah, I agree with you on the movie thing; when I can buy movies I do, nevermind what my brother says.

you know short 'clips' are't illegal despite what some companies think esp. *bleep*tube just like you can use music as long as its not the full thing - thats a loop hole in legalities

I think the clip length was like 30 seconds?
I especially like it when you're actually using a short clip to PROMOTE something-like a trailer-and they remove it XDDDD

Normally if something is copyrighted(song, video, software etc.) the whole is copyrighted, you can't use a part of it for free! I mean, just consider it, if you could, you could simply take, say... Star Wars 3(or some song you find cool), split it in 30, add a "This is a free trailer" disclaimer, and slap it on any user-uploadable-content-site(such as YouTube).. And I don't see that happening. Why? Cause of the bloody DMCA, that's why! Luckily with software it's even easier, they just add in a "YOU MAY NOT DECOMPILE, REVERSE ENGINEER, OR OTHERWISE MESS WITH OUR SOFTWARE WITHOUT OUR EXPRESS WRITTEN, SIGNED, SEALED, AND PERFUMED PERMISSION" in the EULA!

The DMCA is one of the most annoying things I find about copyright. I think that creating something using copyrighted material for the purpose of advertising and supporting, etc., said copyrighted material should be just fine. If I ever made a movie I'd be fine with it.

Not if you'd be winning millions of dollars within the first week since the release! And if you think the DMCA is the most annoying thing, check out The ESA! At least, the DMCA is just that, an act. The ESA is a bloody association, throwing cease, desist, and shove a hose up your... nose letters without even bothering to see whether or not they're entitled to do so!

Well, I wouldn't have any problems with it as long as aforementioned editor wasn't making money off it. Then I might have some problems.

You don't seem to understand, if you accept the use of portions of your copyrighted material for advertising purposes, people fill use the loophole I mentioned above(splitting you movie in dozens smaller pieces) and offer them for download. Bundled! Yea, that would simply be distributing your movie for free, which could have been money in your pocket! But it's not!

Eh, I worry more about people enjoying my artsy stuff then me making money off it, which is probably why I'll have to get a second job

then look at things realistically, if its shown on tv its recordable so hence peeps get it for free just like from the net... when buying you pay for quality picture... the companies are't losing money in the big picture, the things probably would't of been bought by those downloading unless they REALLY like it, but then for a good amount of things without say, dubs... they would't even be known about!

I just went to see what the site had for "Silver Millennium" and found it wasn't in the encyclopedia! wow, I just added that this morning. It's like you sent me a psychic message and I added it... although you'll find the current page very disappointing, I'm afraid to say. It's one of my "under construction" ones, so there's not a whole lot there yet....
