So, where'd ChibiUsa's pink hair come from?

I know it's anime land, so genetics take a back seat, but it still makes me wonder. I mean, I don't think you get light pink by mixing blonde and black together.

Did Usagi or Mamoru have a pink haired relative or ancestor somewhere along the line? Maybe Princess Fireball is Usagi's long lost estranged aunt? LOL

I've been thinking of this question myself.

We don't have to count genetics fully out. Maybe pink hair skips a generation. If you notice Queen Serenity's (Usagi's real mother) hair has a pink tint to it.

Also, for the people who might know, I don't think hair color is a mendelian trait.

Can't explain Shingo's hair color though.

Realistically, I don't see it as possible, unless one of Darien's family members or Serena's family members were a red head. Not immediate family, as any family member out there.

Maybe, if one of them (Serena or Darien), had the gene for red hair, and when the genes mixed, that gene may have been messed up and changed the "red" to "pink". Same concept can be applied to Rini's eye color. Keep in mind, genetics are a very complicated, yet simple thing. Some diseases are casued due to genetics. So, perhaps the same concept can apply to a person having pink hair. It could be possible, realistically.

LOL yay i love my wacky questions too. They always come to me at 3 AM. I'm no genetic wiz, but I also remember Usagi being drawn with pink hair now and then in colored manga pictures, along with some of the others (Makoto is almost always shown with pink hair in manga pictures ) So maybe the anime studio decided to just stick with ChibiUsa's original character design and let her keep her pink hair and pink eyes.

It still bugs me though because there's no real logical answer. lol, although now that I think about it Usagi's mum did have a slight pink tint now and then like you said.

Possible explanations:

1. This is fictional Japan; anything can happen. Personally, I love it.

2. Sailor Crystals probably do wacky shiztnitz with genetics.

3. The Maboroushi no Ginzuishou, should, in my opinion, be an honorary character in the series, because it seems to relish in causing people trouble and completely confusing everyone. I wager it had something to do with the whole ordeal.

4. Maybe this is what happens when you mix moon-kingdom genetics with earth-kingdom ones? It's a symbolic union?

I gave a kind of funny explaination to why Rini has pink hair, in one of my fanfics. This is an exsert of that.

"Since you two are in my dimension now, you must be very careful of what you say and what you do. One: No Transforming. I don't need the US government coming after me or you two. Two: You two are cousins, while you are visiting here. Come on! Who's going to believe that Serena and Rini are mother and daughter? Not happening. Three: Rini, if anyone asks, pink is NOT your natural hair color. You had Serena dye it for you. In my dimension, there is no such thing as natural pink hair color, such as yours." explains Dylan.

I don't know. I tried to make it kind of funny. It's the first thought to come to mind, when I was typimg up that part of my fanfic.

I am not entirely sure if pink is a natural hair color or not. In my fanfic, Dylan's dimension doesn't have a pink hair color as a natural hair color. Like I said, it's only an exsert from my fanfic. And, I have no clue if Rini's hair color really is naturally pink. I was just kind of taking a stab at an idea.

It actually is pink. In the manga when she was introducing herself to her new classmates, they all started whispering about her hair. I can't remember which volume it's in, I just remember reading "Look at her hair! It's PINK!" I don't think they mentioned it in the anime though.

I always assumed Chibiusa has pink hair for the same reasons Usagi has blonde hair (rather than silver) - they wanted a flashy color to display on covers, TV, etc.

The color still kind of bothers me though.

I read somewhere that Naoko Takeuchi (creator of SM) made Usagi's mother's hair pink in the manga! So therefore Chibiusa has the pink-hair gene from her Earthly grandma (the mother for reincarnated Moon Kingdom Serenity 2nd aka Usagi). And Usagi's mom's hair is just blue in the anime because they made a mistake or actually Naoko originally intended to have her hair pink.

But I don't know how Usagi has blonde hair from being reincarnated/reborn into her earth mother's body... and for the instead-of-silver-hair-thing, I say the hair only turns silver because the princesses and queens are like ageless and maybe the only thing that 'ages' (beautifully that is) is their hair, so that kinda explains the gold-to-silver-hair thing. xD
