You see the Sailor Moon/Dragon Ball Universe fics all over the internet...I am curious to find out why people cross Sailor Moon and the Dragon Ball Universe so much. The animes are so drastically different in animation and storylines,so would'nt one think it would be difficult to actaully find a reason to cross over the 2 animes? What is it that inspires people to do Sailor Moon/Dragon Ball Universe crossovers? I'm curious to know......

Drastically different? No. The animation is simular and the only thing is DBZ focues more on the action aspect whereas SM focues on the romance aspect.
To be honest, aside from poorly written fan fic by someone who didn't enevn know sailor moons attacks ( She spun around at hit people with her hair) they only X-overs of those shows I've ever seen are hentai.

The DBZ animation looks so different from the Sailor Moon animation,though...I can't see how the Dragon Ball animation is similiar to the Sailor Moon animation.

Well, they were both made by Toei, so I guess they could have shared some animators The obvious diference is that Dragon Ball was aimed for boys and Sailor Moon for girls (though they were really well acepted by both genders)

The animation isn't as drasticaly diferent as your making it out to be. Every anime looks different, so of course the Sailor Senshi would have diferent eyes and hair etc. , but Sailor Moon and DragonBall Z are pretty alike if you compare it to an anime like Shin-chan or Keropi. I guess the reason people write those fan fics is because they like both shows, if you like both shows, why not? I remeber you were telling me about some Disney/ Sailor Moon fan fics, and their animation is way more different., but does that mean the fan fics wouldn't be good? Of course not! I guess it doesn't matter if the animation would be the same, it's more about imaganation than animation.

Yeah I don't see why differences in animation would matter in a fanfic lol I personally would love to see a good SM DBZ crossover, but it's a lot like the SM/HP... it's never really thought out. Jamming SM and HP without any thought behind it also doesn't fit well at all... That's also why I've never made an SM DBZ crossover, I don't really want to sit down and come up with a bunch of stuff that makes it logical... That's the only thing to me, especially with the comparing of powers. But if I ever come up with good explanations, someday I WILL make a crossover XD lol because I think it would be very neat. But I do understand what you said about the animation. Sailor Moon looks like 'normal' Toei animation, nothing really like Takeuchi's drawings, while DBZ looks a lot closer to Akira Toriyama's works... But still I don't see why animation would matter in fanfics... it's not like they'd ever be made into an anime, and if they did I don't think they're different enough for it to be like

A lot of people love both animes and just want to see the characters interact. For example, Goku and Usagi are extremely similar -- both are naive, friendly, can eat food like nobody's business, have good hearts, are legendary heroes, etc. A lot of the characters are really similar. Look at Master Roshi and Rei's grandpa! There is a lot of crossover potential between the two series, the trick is just figuring out a way to make it work well. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't take the time to come up with a good premise for a crossover like this and it doesn't work out very well.
A lot of people cross Sailor Moon with things that aren't even similar just to see how it will turn out. I mean, I've been working on a Sailor Moon/Transformers crossover for a while now and they have nothing in common. It's just fun. Besides, Sailor Moon and DBZ came on Toonami around the same time (I think they even ran back to back), so a lot of people became fans of both. That happened with a lot of Toonami shows, come to think of it. I remember Sailor Moon/Gundam Wing crossovers being highly popular backin the day as well.

Very true. These are both popualr animes, that many people like to cross over. I've many that were poorly thought out. I've read a good by my friend, but it was written all out on paper. It was very nicely thought out, and it didn't involve them fighting each other, like most crossovers I've read do. To me, crossover fanfics are good, as long as they show some thought put into them, but not neccessarily need to be "that" logical. As long as they are fun to read, it shouldn't matter too much.

Ill will admit, I was once a SM/DBZ die hard fan, to the extent that I wanted to see them crossover. It took me two years to realize that if it were to get "serious" with blending in the story lines, it simply would never work. It wouldn't work because of one simple thing that plays a big part in both stories and that is the moon itself. In DB/DBZ Master Roshi and Picollo destroyed the moon to avoid saiyans turning into oozaru, and in SM the moon has always been there, only that the moon palace is in ruins. So how can SM and DBZ blend?? Its gotta take one very good and smart fanfic to work that out imo ^^

Actually, that could be a pretty good plot point. I remember an old fanart I found years ago of Sailor Moon chasing Piccolo yelling, "I'll teach you to blow up the moon!"
It's not like they're living on the moon in Crystal Tokyo or anything anyway, heh.

Yeah, plus I've never seen them you know... stand under the moon and go "oooohm" and magical light pours upon them lol
They don't actually use the moon they just came from it. Makes me wonder though since Usagi uses the power of the moon... if she you know did "Moon Gorgeous Meditation" would they all the sudden turn into giant monkeys? XD

XD TU. I really want to write that scene now. Even though I don't remember anything about DBZ anymore. I still do.
But yeah, differences in animation shouldn't have any effect on the storyline...and if you work at it and think hard enough, you really can make it work.
Like, right now, I'm working on a Sailor Moon/Lord of the Rings crossover. They have absolutely NOTHING in common...but I'm slowly figuring out ways to make it work. I've been plotting this thing out for about 8 months now. I'll be upset if it fails.
Then again, since it's pretty much all original characters....

Besides, Sailor Moon and DBZ came on Toonami around the same time (I think they even ran back to back), so a lot of people became fans of both. Yea... that's what I'd think would cause the high number of sm/dbz crossovers. Also, both deal with fantasy ideas... or at least, concepts that can stretch the bounds of time and space... I'm a big fan of DBZ (it was actually up there below SM for a long time), and I think I love it for similar reasons why I love SM (fantasy, aliens, humor, etc).

I wrote two DBZ/SM crossovers (one the sequel to the other) and solved it using the manga version of the end of the Moon Kingdom, that says when Beryl and Metallia came Sailor Saturn swinged the blade putting an end to all life in the Solar System, and then evolution on earth was re-started from zero:
In the Silver Millenium times, the people of Earth travelled all around the universe (even if they didn't get along with the Moon Kingdom) and established colonies in many planets outside our Solar System. One of them was Kinmoku, and another one a distant planet that was a lot like Earth, even with its own moon and sun, and so decided to start a human colony there as well, naming the planet 'Earth 2' or 'Chikyuu' (Chikyuu means 'Earth' in Japanese), and this second Earth was the DBZ Earth... This Earth 2/Chikyuu was the planet where humans first found the animals known as dinosaurs, and liked them so much they even took some of them back to the first Earth. Then Beryl and Metallia came, Sailor Saturn swinged the glaive putting an end to all life in our Solar System, including the first Earth, and obviously communication ceased between the first Earth and its colonies outside the Solar System... Humans from Kinmoku and Chikyuu were forced to continue on their own, and their later generations eventually forgot where they had originally come from.
So there: the SM earth and the DBZ earth (Chikyuu) are two different planets, even if they're very similar in atmosphere, plant life and stuff. The humans on Chikyuu are descendants of the coloners that came from the SM earth in the times of the Silver Millenium, and the dinosaur fossils in the SM earth ("our" Earth) are there because humans "imported" dinosaurs from Chikyuu in the times of the Silver Millenium.
I hope you can see now not all of us DBZ/SM crossover writers are thoughtless! ;D

So does that mean that the sailor senshi who died on the moon was recarnated on chikyuu??? Oh yeah, and how does the years work. In DBZ, the timeline is a few hundred years after AD, like for example: Bulma, Tien and Yamcha were born in 733 AD, whereas, in SM Neo Queen Serenity and everyone else was living in the 30th century. So there is an approx a Thousand years between the two story lines.
Oh yea, and I never said, let alone, thought of DBZ/SM crossover writers as thoughtless. I just said its gotta take one very good fanfic to work it out.
