Alright! This is an RPG I started on another board I go to, and it was very successful. I've actually have done 2 different stories for this RPG, so far. Thus, the name "Fantasy Chronicles". Right now, it's currently not running on the other board I go to. The last story just ended, so I wanted to see if I can get this started here. I only hope that this RPG is a success here too. (Note: I would provide a link, but you wouldn't be able to view it unless you were a member. So I just copy and pasted my format/rules from there.) Just FYI: This RPG borrows heavily of elements from the Final Fantasy series, but doesn't have connections to any of the actual games. Some other elements are borrowed from the Tales series too.
(Beware: Long typing follows.)
Character Development:
Basically, it is how you want you character to develop and what skills he/she will learn. When the party beats a normal battle or boss battle, he/she will be able to increase their stat points, determined by how the powerful the enemies or boss(es) were. After every normal fight and boss fight, you will get stat points to add on to your character's stats. Use them how you wish.
MP/PP Abilities:
Character's learn new abilites at new levels. Leveling up is the only way to get your character's new attacks, or upgrade old ones. Also, space out your character's abilities, that they will learn or upgrade. Don't have them learn a whole bunch after every level, or something weird like that. Also, make their MP/PP abilities at a fair amount to use. (EX: Fire spells cost only 6 MP, but you decide the fair amount. I will have final say.) You are allowed any number of MP and/or PP abilities, up to a max of 10 between each. (EX: 5 MP abilities, and 5 PP abilities.)
Status:
A character with low stats may not last long in a fight, but that's why they level up and beat bosses, right? High stats come when they party beats normal battles or certain bosses. There are 5 basic stats to keep track of. They are: HP - Hit points, MP - Magic Points, PP - Physical Points, ATT - Basic Attack, and SPD - Speed.
Then, I will explain them.
HP - If it hits 0, that character will be out of the battle until revived by means of Magic or Phoenix Down.
MP - Used for magic spells. Examples of magic include elemental magic (Will be explained later. Some magic is non-elemental.), healing magic, and status magic (used against enemy and for allies).
PP - Used for the magically inclined. Examples include anything that may be used with the character's weapon. (Be honest and describe what it does)
ATT - Basic Attack Power the character can do without an item or weapon that grants extra abilities.
SPD - How fast the character is. This stat determines who will go first, and so on down the line. A high speed character may evade some attacks. May even get mulitple turns.
Elements:
Fire is weak to Ice.
Ice is weak to Fire.
Thunder is weak to Water.
Water is weak to Thunder.
Earth is weak to Wind.
Wind is weak to Earth.
Holy is weak to Shadow.
Shadow is weak to Holy.
Note: I'm using the elemental weaknesses from Tales of Symphonia, for simple understanding.
Story and battle:
I will create the storyline of the game. I will require assistence from the other members of this RPG, when asked, to help with the storyline. PM's maybe required on that part. Battle will consist of 3 characters per battle team. If there happens to be 4 or more characters in this RPG, then a character may switch with another character that is standing by during battle. That way, everyone will get stat points, so everyone can level up equally and increase their stats. Switching is good to give a character a break, or if he/she is critical (near death or low HP). Unfortunately, swtiching does take up your turn in battle.
Status Effects: (More will/may be added later):
Blind - Drops ATT success rate in half.
Silence - Can't use MP or PP.
Poison - Lose HP every turn character remains poisoned.
Slow - Character's SPD is cut in half for a period of time.
Haste - Character's SPD is doubled for a period of time.
Death - Character's or enemy's HP is 0. Use Pheonix Downs or Life spells to revive the character, or even an enemy, if you want more exp. Note: Some bosses can be revived, if there is more than one. Note 2: If all of the battling party dies, the game is over. You will start over from the last check point, but retain your previous stats. This will deplete half the party's GP, if this happens.
Last bit of info:
There won't be INNs, unless it's part of the story. Everyone will fully recover HP, MP, and/or PP, after every battle. Only exception is status effects won't go away after battle. There are weapon and armor shops, but they will be a little different this time. Some characters may not need or want a weapon or armor. It's your own personal preference for your character. Yet, some armor/weapons can be to your advantage. There will be Item shops, for your battle weary selves. You may make up your own race for your character. You may give a brief description/history of your character. I shall post an example a bit later, if you need one.
All who join will have 150 points to use between their Stat points. Everyone joins at Lv1. How you level up, is determined by how many battles each character takes part in. Every 5 battles a character participates in, including boss fights, they will level up. Please make sure you update your stats whenever this happens, or after you get stat points after a normal fight or boss fight. The max level will be 50.
Any questions comments, PM me and I will reply back to you as soon as I can. And, I hope I didn't forget anything.
