what exactly do you want to know? how to use a premade layout or... how to make it. ?
To use a layout, you could simply put all the coding here and I will tell you what to edit and what not. ^_^
If you want to make your own layout, you must know fairy well HTML and CSS.
To make a website can be very easy with freewebs - with an editor (you just write there what you want to get) or you could code yourself the content - using HTML ^_-

Ahem!
Actually, most free website providers have an online editor that makes your job easier, not just freewebs(and do stay clear of that one, it's EBIL)!
As for the pictures, make sure they're in the right directory! As in if the layout your friend made had the pictures in the /pictures folder, then that's what you have to do, create a pictures folder and put them images inside!

well without learning the bits that make up the layout it may be hard to change and properly understand what you're doing to put a picture onto a web page you need to use the code <img src=""></img> the address of the picture goes in the quotes you can use the full address like someplace.net/somesite/somepic.jpg (some sites are case sensitive - if it is it wont work unless what you typed is the same as what is stored) or you can use a short version, like if you picture is stored in the same place as your index.htm file, then somepic.jpg would work, alternative if in a directory, you simply type the directory name first followed by a slash and then the pictures name. to learn to do web pages the first thing to lean is html, only after becoming comfitable with this should you try the other common things like CSS and javascript small note: that web address is partially real but it was't intentional, its not mine

Sighs! That's <img src="[source goes here]" /> Amy-Chan: There are standards, comply or prepare to be terminated! SailorSun: Well, as you can see there are many ways to do only one thing with web designing! Not all are correct(as in, not all work in all browsers, or are W3C[the big daddy of internet standards] compliant) but they do the job! Oh, and if you're up for learning, and in for a reading, you could go to W3Schools!

in anything, learning the basics is essential meh... i was tired and it works all the same, its not a disagreed on way of doing it, just the long way, how a page is written does't matter if its all legitimate code... still saying that, the code ms word produces should be stayed away from... lol most code on the web is pretty bad anyways, SaILoRSuN your template may or may not be good for learning from but start simple and i'm sure you'll get to the point you want
