Adobe and Paint Shop Pro are both very popular, but personally, I've never used them. XD I use Paint, and a free program called "Irfanview". The latter lets you create gifs, transperances, resize, and also fiddle around more with the image itself. I use paint for cutting images and rearranging them. Here are some layouts I've created using those two programs: (and my graphic skills are, I consider, good, but not THAT hot XD) odulation.chisuki.net/layouts.phpFrom the past few years, I've come to conclusion that PHP DIV layouts are the easiest to make and maintain. (An example of those would be all of the ones I've created on that page there) DIV layouts look clean and simple, while PHP keeps you from having to change something on EVERY page. And if you have a lot of pages, this is very helpful! If you're new to HTML, however, I would suggest you get started at Lissa Explains. lissaexplains.com. There are many PHP tutorials on the web, but you're welcome to look at my coding if you want. That's essentially how I taught myself. XD Eh, sorry if that was a bit too brief. Feel free to ask any questions.

To code a layout, you need to know HTML. You can code HTML using Notepad, but if you don't want to do raw coding, Microsoft Frontpage and other programs can be very helpful. I use Adobe Photoshop 7 for my image editing, and I just love it to pieces. But it's also exoensive, unless you can find it at a garage sale or on Ebay. Something like that. A free graphics program I've heard good things about is GIMP. I don't have the link, but I THINK it's www.gimp.comThere are a lot of good sites out there to help you learn coding. I mainly use www.lissaexplains.com, which was designed for kids so it's wasy to understand, and www.blossom.nu. I hope that helps!
