I know it seems like this has been done before but, for those who like classical music, what is your favorite piece. If you don't have a favorite piece of classical music what other songs do you like that would considered by others to be "geeky, dorky, or nerdy".
My favorites are:
Classical: J.S. Bach's Thus Spoke Zoroaster (the famous music from 2001 A Space Oddysey) Rossini's The Theiving Magpie Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 5 Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (no it's not because it has the word "moon" in it) Beethoven's Ode to Joy (I think that's what it's called)
Other unpopular seeming music: A polka called Role Out the Barrel The song called Singing In the Rain

Seriously, I am the queen of geeky music. People are like, "Can I see your iPod?" and I'm like, "You probally don't know ANYTHING on there..."
I LOVE classical music!!!!
- Holst's "The Planets" (no, has nothing to do with Sailor Moon, but it is interesting to compare the pieces with the characters...) - "Pictures at an Excibition" by a guy whose name I can't spell - Basically anything by Chopin, Debussy, or Tshikovisky (sp?!?) - Any classical movie soundtrack (especially Lord of the Rings and Star Wars...yet another reason to call me a geek. ^^)
More unpopular stuff: Ace of Base Annie Lennox Chicago (the band, not the musical) A lot of Christian artists/bands (especially TobyMac, DC Talk, and the Newsboys) Smile.dk Within Temptation Weird Al Almost any musical (except "The Music Man", "Grease", and "Oklahoma!")

I am SUCH a dork when it comes to music. I listen to tons and tons of opera!! I really like Mozart's operas best, though... Don Giovanni, Marriage of Figaro, and The Magic Flute.
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Chopin! He's my favourite ever! Nocturne #7 in c# minor and Prelude Opus 28, No.4 in E minor are my favorites.
Other favorites: - Aaron Copland - Beethoven - RAVEL!!

I don't really think any music should be considered geeky, but I do have trouble owning up to my passion for Billy Gilman music. It's a little embarassing, especially considering how different it is from the rest of my music. Other than that I'm 100% proud of the music I listen to.

Pictures at an Exhibation, by Mussorgsky? Yeah, it's awesome. The techno version kicks butt.
MY DORKY LIST:
Harry and the Potters- Band. Parodys Harry Potter. Rock. Kicks serious butt. You'll laugh your head off.
Um... and everything else arwentheelf02 said!

Some of them music that was mentioned I have heard of while others I haven't. I like some of Weird Al's music as well. His song about Jurassic Park is a parody of an old song by McArthur Park which is by the way another great one. Every once in a while I listen to the spiritual music too. I especially like some of the music from African American churches. I also heard parts of "The Planets". My radio station had played some of the pieces from that one a few times. At first I didn't associate the music with Sailor Moon until I started watching the series. Since then I have always thought it would be funny if they remade the episodes and put some of the music in as another inside joke. Anyway I also like the music from Star Wars too. I believe that a great epic movie or (TV series) has to have great epic music.

I like Fortuna as well. It makes great dramatic music for one of those movie villains or even some destruction and battle scenes between the villain and hero. By the way I'm hoping that the story that I want published someday is made into a movie so that I can use that music. As for who sings the song, I'm guessing its different choruses. I never heard of Conquest of Paradise or Excalibur but if it's anything like Chariots of Fire I'm definately intereted. I never heard of Sweet November but I did think the music from Gladiator wasn't bad. The rest of the songs I haven't heard of but some of them sound pretty interesting as well.

I had an English teacher who listened to Celtic music. Or something like that. Either way I thought it was good.

Celtic music varies, but the most typical has a lot of bagpipes, flutes, and fiddles in it.
