Betty Ann, I defenately need to check out that Disney book you were refering to, seeing as I'm the one who is into business & ethics and anything related. There's a book I've been trying to read for who knows how long called "Holder of Lightning", but I just can't get into it. It is so dull and unepical. I think it was meant to be more enjoyable for women. Just because something is "dull and unepical" doesn't mean that it "was meant to be more enjoyable for women." Women are not idiots who enjoy dull reading; they enjoy exciting reading just as much as the next person. You really need to watch it with these generalizations and rude comments.

I didn't mean that, I meant the actual story itself.

I'm saying the book would be more preferable for women because the book focuses on a 17 year old girl and her mother sharing their feelings like how Deanna Troi and Dr. Crusher do in some episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, or in some typical soap opera.

not all women like soap operas or romance novels...
in fact, some guys do.
Anyhow, the thrift store is a great place to buy books! I went in today and bough three new books for about $1.50. I got The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, Wuther Heights, and Silas Marner. There were lots of others, but I didn't want to spend more! Wow, I love the thrift store

OOO! The Joy Luck Club! That is a good book! Which is funny that I know that, because I hardly ever read. The last book that I rediscovered recently was actually one that I got in 6th grade, and I still like it! It's called "Yours Till Niagra Falls, Abby" It's about this girl going to summer camp, I don't know why I like it so much, but I do! I'm weird about books, I like all the teen books! I guess I am a teen tho lol

Gah, no offense Betty Ann, but how can you stand to read stuff about statistics and all that? That would bore me so bad! I would fall asleep reading it...

I am currently reading The Cider House Rules by John Irving. I actually only have about 20 pages left. I don't know what I'll read next. It is a very good book; I really recommend it! I know they have made a movie from it but I am not sure if it follows it because I haven't seen it. For those of you who don't know anything about it, it is about an orphan who grows up in an orphanage in the 1940's where the doctor there illegally gives abortions. Then he gets a chance to make it on his own in the world. I think I just made it sound trite but it's written so very well and has such wonderful characters.

I think I have heard of that book either that or the movie. It definately sounds interesting. I myself am reading a book called The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene.

If you like Star Wars, read "Shadows of the Empire". Greatest SW book out there. It takes place in-between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi", so you don't need to be a fanatic to understand it.

"The Time Travelers Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger
A touching love story with a new twist. Henry DeTamble is a librarian who suffers from a genetic disorder that causes him to shift backward and forward through time. Without a moment's notice, he disappears, leaving behind his clothes and everything else, and arrives naked at another time in his life. Sometimes he even meets a different version of himself. He discovers that he has met Clare Abshire ( his future wife ) since she was a young girl, making several visits with her throughout her life. Clare falls in love with a man who can't control when he comes and goes.
an excellent book, I loved it. read it in about 3 days.
I got it the same time as HP & the HBP but of course book 6 came first before travelers wife.
