I'll come out and say it, Usagi/Serena is by far my least favorite scout/senshi. Why you may ask? SHE'S ABSOLUTLY PERFECT, no one can sympathise with someone absolutly perfect. The others at least have problems. Raye's psychic ability makes her an outcast, plus she's had a falling out with her dad. Mina struggles with living a double life, Lita is an Orphan and is made fun of because of her height, Amara and Michelle are torn between their mission and their love for each other, Amy's a workaholic with no friends outside of the scouts, Trista is forced to live a lonely life, Hotaru is a complete outcast and is the but of everyone's jokes
But Serena
1. Everyone, even the villians, instantly like her when they see her in her human form 2. She gets all the items, Imperium Silver Crystal, Luna Pen, Moon Rod, etc 3. She is a Princess, and will become a Queen 4. She's the only one with a boyfriend 5. The other Scouts/Senshi are just there to make her look good 6. She has more forms then all the Scouts combined 7. She has no real problems, and no being late for school doesn't count
Need I go on???

I have to agree, she is too perfect for my liking. The only thing that makes her normal is her being late, other than that she's far too perfect

Well, she's better in the manga IMO. The manga focuses more on the other Senshi than the anime - they have both "Eternal" forms and Princess forms, for one thing. Her bouts of jealousy in regards to Chibiusa and Michiru are treated more seriously in the manga than they are in the anime, so her problems with Mamoru seem more realistic than OMGZ I'm having bad dreams so I have to break up with my girlfriend. It also does a better job showcasing the responsibility she has on her shoulders with regards to being a heroine - especially in the "Death Busters" arc.

I don't think she's too perfect...
She's kinda dumb, she's really klutzy, and she's constantly late. The constant lateness is really indicative of some degree of selfishness (if you are constantly late, you obviously are thinking more about yourself than about the people who are having to wait on you forever). She's also very immature a lot of the time. In the episode I just summarized, for instance, she did a lot of things that were just plain unlikeable... she spied on someone else's date, she tricked Umino into a date with her and took advantage of his feelings, she yelled at Sailor Mars after Sailor Mars saved her... etc.

Everyone's problems are different, serena/usagi is meant to be one of those very likable types - yes they do exist, lol, serena's problem's are done to love.. her heartache over darien/mamoru at various times (esp. stars) her love for her friends like wanting molly/naru not to be hurt over nephrite (though this aspect didn't really go beyond the first season because they barely did anything with people outside the senshi beyond that)

Definitely not. She has the same flaws most of us have.

I go with Betty Ann on this one. Usagi has never struck me as "perfect", but rather a sort of centralizing factor within the Senshi (hence why she's the leader-- outside of destiny). With the possible exception of Minako, Usagi isn't particularly similar to the other Senshi. I think that serves to her advantage and to their own.
One of the more noticeable differences is that Usagi has a complete family unit while the rest of the Senshi lack the same type of nurturing atmosphere. I think that fact covers up a lot of Usagi's faults, at least in terms of in-depth character development. It probably is also one of the reasons why she is immature and somewhat spoiled-- initially anyway.
Although I've never read the manga, I'll go with rosesablaze's assertion that the manga focused more on the rest of the Senshi than the anime did. Remember that the anime doesn't have a lot of time to concentrate on the others, and since Usagi is essentially THE hero, she's the focal point. Furthermore, the anime seemed to get a little more serious when R wrapped up.

Hmm I don't really think Usagi is perfect. She fails at school. She's really insecure about her relationship with Mamoru (though sometimes she is so totally sure of it). She cries a lot and it seems she only really believes in herself when she remembers/gets encouragement from her friends. She's always late. She also has some problems with being over dramatic and very attention needy. She eats too much. :3 She does screw up. One of my favorite parts of Stars is when she presents her crystal to Galaxia, probably thinking that it's going to work against her, and then she gets the smack laid down on her. She's really naive too. She believes in everyone, which, personally, I think is a flaw.
As far as her saving the day all the time, that's kind of the whole point of the story. She gets the cool weapons and new forms because she's the leader. Same thing with the royalty aspect. I mean the story is called 'Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon'. I don't know why it would be reasonable to think it wouldn't be mainly about her. The other senshi definitely get better development in manga and even the live action to some extent. There are still quite a few episodes in the anime that are dedicated to the senshi's own personal awakenings though.

Well yeah, everybody around here made good points, leaving me with little to add: First of all Usagi/Serena is not the only one to have a boyfriend/girlfriend/love life/something like that. Almost everybody has their pair in the anime, it's just that the anime itself doesn't reveal much about this and the main reason would be exactly that it's more about Sailor Moon(hence the name, as Sailor Astera pointed out) Second: The other scouts/Senshis are not there "Just to make her look good"! I mean, how many times did they end up in saving Moon's butt? She's not really the Terminator of demons, she got herself in sticky situations plenty of times. Third:... Well I don't have a "Third" for now

I agree with all the above reasons. We can consider her an unlikely hero for those reasons. Also Chibiusa would fit the catagory because even though she's LESS mature than Usagi, she has the same faults but have moments where she proves her valor (like when she jumped into the fire to save pegesus.)

Chibiusa is not more mature than Usagi <_<; She's at least twice as selfish and spoiled.

chibiusa is many years younger than usagi so should be less mature, but in some cases she does act more mature, like not sitting around laughing at comics - which does annoy the other scouts when usagi doesn't listen to the topic of discussion

I don't think she is perfect either, she has many flaws and exprience's people her age have, and at the beging as you may rember she was very unsure of herself as a the leader of the sailor soilders.
