So...I'm into astrology and I'm studying it a lot, reading about it, planets, houses and stuff. Well what I've noticed are the meanings the planets have in astrology: Moon represents emotions, Mercury communication, Venus love, Mars passion, etc. But what has stabbed me in the eyes are the meanings of Saturn and Pluto: Saturn is the planet of Time (the passage of time to be more exact) and it's sign represents the sickle of Chronos, the God of Time, while Pluto is the planet of destruction and rebirth. What do you think is the reason Saturn and Pluto traded places in Sailor Moon? Did Naoko-sama made a mistake, not knowing this or was it intended? If it was intended then Saturn and Pluto are the only two senshi who don't follow the pattern of senshi's zodiac signs corresponding the planets they rule and the meanings of the planets.

antares7.absoludicrous.net/saturnpluto/index.htmlThis article approaches your question. I haven't read it in a while, but basically it's important to keep in mind that Naoko integrated many different beliefs into BSSM. =) Edit: Also he has two other articles about it on the main page.

I heard about this problem, and I've also read those articles some time ago. Interesting topic...by the way, those two senshi are in many ways similar, they're not the same character, but we're almost there. They just have different jobs, in a way...

That they are...They are both so serious and rather reserved, I think the two of them are the only two senshi that act calm and speak calm most of the time. ;D

i realised that Pluto (Hades in Roman mythology) is the ruler of the darkness but i didn't know that Saturn is the time deity. i guess Takeuchi-sama used the greek mythology & the astrology only as an inspiration.

Yeah, I guess she wasn't too strict about the meanings. People could debate about the whole Pluto / Saturn deal a lot and find good arguments for both options. This was Takeuchi-sama's licentia poetica.

i realised that Pluto (Hades in Roman mythology) is the ruler of the darkness I thought it was the other way around (Hades being from Greek mythology).

In Stars, Pluto and Saturn were grouped in a pair (Like Mercury and Mars, Jupiter and Venus, Uranus and Neptune). They were even killed together lol.

That was the ultimate evidence of how much Pluto and Saturn are really alike. To me the two of them are a good duo, as good as Haruka and Michiru, but in a more calm, serious way. Minus the intimate relationship.
