that'll be a animated gif, GIMP and Photoshop can make them using layers... but its easier to use a gif animator program, freeware ones are hard to find, but you could try www.gifworks.com/image_editor.html - a online creator www.jhepple.com/gif_animator.htm - download making the gif just involves having several pic's, loading them into the program and setting a delay time to show the next pic, my banner uses this with i think a 5 sec delay.

thank you amy-chan; I'll have to try that some time, but that's not quite what I was talking about; I was thinking something more along the lines of this: (icon from three-lights.net)

Ah something like that I've made one like that before. It was a bit of pain for me haha but in the end it looks pretty cool. [Very very rough tutorial] Ask me if you have further questions. 01. You have to get the animation of what you want to put in the icon and open it in Animation Shop/Image Ready it can be a video in .mpg, .avi, etc... format 02. Go to your icon that you want to put the video in and designate an area for the video (put this layer on top) 03. Go back to animation stills and resize them to a size that will fit your icon. then copy and paste as new layers into your graphics program (move them to the area on your icon). Save as pspimage or psd so the layers are still intact. 04. Open in animation program I hope imageready lets you do that or Animation Shop (haven't done this in awhile). 05. Your animation stills should be be in the right area but without the top layer. Copy from the original psd/psp file and paste on top of the animation still. (Annoying part) 06. After all that's done go to "view animation" to see if it worked out. Sorry it's sooo confusing but I typed it from memory.

I know Lemonachi basically covered on how to put animation on an icon, but if you're still having problems try this tutorial. minttea.forchan.net/main.htmlThe only thing is that it's meant for Animation Shop.

thank you amy-chan; I'll have to try that some time, but that's not quite what I was talking about; I was thinking something more along the lines of this: (icon from three-lights.net) but thats a animated gif like i said about... they've just took the venus animation, seperated it into frames and stuck it over less moving pics to produce the final pic
