Since usagi brought up a really old anime I thought that I should too. Here it is. A very long time ago starting in 1984 in Japan there was a show about two koalas from an unusual dimention in Australia (I think) called Koala Walla Land. The show was called "Fushigi na koala Blinky" and later dubbed and brought to America as the Noozles. It was shown on Nick Jr. from 1988 to 1993. I myself don't remember much of this show but what information I have here came from a few websites I found. I do remember watching it all those years ago on Nick.

From what I remamber of it, it is pretty cute. Of course some parts did get a little strange. For example in the other dimention there isn't really any land (if I remember right). The inhabitants just float from one stone to another (I think there were stones). One part I remember the most clear was a scene with a giant Kiwi bird. It was, I believe, chasing the main characters a pink koala named Pinky, a girl named Sandy and a grey koala named Blinky (I'm only remembering the names from the websites I saw). Anyway other strange things the dimetion had was the rather large floating crystals. This unfortunately is about as much as I remember. Sorry but my information is quite choppy. I'm sure that if you wanted to know more you could search in Google for more information.

I'm not entirely sure if what you were talking about is the same but it does sound like something that would happen in this show. I found something on the Anime News Network that could clear things up a bit. Hopefully the link will work. www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?list=FIf you go down the list you should see it.
