Okay, Super Sentai isn't an anime, but it's from Japan and it's popular nevertheless. If you're not familiar with it, it's the Japanese version of Power Rangers. Anyways, I find Super Sentai to be much better, especially with the newer series.
In case you didn't know, they've been making Super Sentai series since 1975, but it wasn't until 1992 when a company named Saban would import a Super Sentai series called Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, modify it, and rename it Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. What's interesting enough is MMPR was actually brought back to Japan and dubbed in Japanese.
I especially like Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger, aka the original Japanese version of Power Rangers S.P.D. I'm still trying to download episodes (Bit Torrent doesn't work on a college network >.<). It's much better than Power Rangers S.P.D, which I watched a couple of times and almost puked.
I heard that the latest Super Sentai series, Mahou Sentai Magiranger, is going to be called Power Rangers Mystic Force over here, and there's rumor that Kimberly (Amy Jo Johnson) is going to return. I saw a few episodes of Magiranger and didn't really like it that much, so I can't imagine what the American version would be like.

When I first watched the first episodes of the Power Rangers I suspected something like that when I notcied that the villains didn't move their mouths to the words that they say. I never seen the japanese version though it sounds interesting.

I used to love Power Rangers! (But I've heard that now Disney is doing them >.<) But, I don't understand what you mean when you say "modify." They made their own American version of the show, right?

Yeah, they replace everyone with American actors, etc. and even change the plot in many cases, but they tend to still borrow scenes from the Japanese version when they're fighting. You can especially tell in the older series like Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Power Rangers Zeo, Power Rangers Turbo, etc. which scenes are American made and just imported from Japan because the Japanese scenes have less picture quality. The people who make Super Sentai (I think TOEI) made every super sentai series look like it was made in the 70s on purpose I guess up until recently.

I thought the fight sequences looked a bit strange.

I think my brother told me that before, but I still didn't notice. How old is she now, anyway?

I've heard of Super Sentai, but other than that I know nothing of it.

I've heard of Super Sentai, but other than that I know nothing of it. Are you familiar with the people who have the different colored helmets and gigantic robot dinosaurs that transform into a bigger robot? They also jump around fighting these weird gray creatures.

When I think back It seems almost like they made the show for toy promotions. Plus there were things I didn't understand. One would be did the monsters have to grow hundreds of stories tall just to defeat a bunch of humans? and why didn't the villains just send an army of those gray things to take over the world? They could have even given them some kind of weapons. It seemed like they needed it when the heroes recieved theirs.

I agree with that. I'm not a big a fan of huge monsters, robots, etc. Though I did kind of like the fighting scenes.

Just about every sentai series has had giant monsters; not just the Power Rangers ones. In fact, sentai got its roots from Godzilla and other related Japanese sci-fi films. And you have to remember that shows like these are not logically accurate. Sailor Moon is the same way.
