I don't really know her name.. I'm horrible with the actress names of all of them. Lol.
But I wanna know if anyone else thought that they could have casted someone a bit... better? I mean, her vocals are subpar. Isn't Minako supposed to be an idol, a singer? Lol. Also, her expression is always so... bored. When she's transforming, her saying her speeches.. or just about anything.
"Oh yeah.. I'm so bored.. I'm too good for expressions.."
*Waits for the flames and rotten tomatoes*

I know when I first saw her, I honestly thought she was a little strange looking and to some extent, still do. That's probably the only reason I would say the role could have been casted better. Then again, it probably could have been worse, too.
In regards to her lack of much expression and dead-pan tone, I think that's sort of fitting for PGSM Minako.

Well, aren't most pop singers considered subpar vocalists? *coughbritneyspearscough* In that genre its more about being a good performer and looking a certian way than having actual talent, so it makes sense in that respect. Also in the DVD Omake Ayaka Komatsu (that's her name btw) said that privious to PGSM, she didn't have any acting, singing or dance experience. She said for her audition she played ping-pong! She also said that she was the only girl out of the other five who wasn't familiar with the Sailor Moon anime or manga series, so she pretty much came up with Minako's character from scratch.
As for her look, she's actually considered very attractive by Japanese standards. The male cast members during their Kirari Super Live backstage interview had commented on how "small-faced" she is, which in Japan is like saying a girl is very pretty.
As for her portrayal of Aino Minako/Sailor Venus, I took her lack of expression to be seriousness rather than bordeom and really enjoyed her performance.

i think minako was played to how she meant to be i saw as serious too, she was trying to forfill the past mission
i also think she had little input to how she was played, i saw a filming bit at start with usagi and she had to do that small bit (where luna falls on her head) until the director was happy with how she was doing her.

Is her mom British and her dad Japanese or something? because her eyes are a little large for a Japanese person. and yes she is very boring looking. ESPECIALLY HER ATTACK CRESENT BEAM! SHE DOESN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING!

Does she have to say anything? There have been times in every version of Sailor Moon where the senshi attacked without saying anything.
And you know, it is possible for a Japanese person to have eyes that are slightly larger then normal. Just like it's possible for people usually assumed to have dark skin to have very light skin. It's just a thing the human body does.

I think the actress that plays Mio isnt completely Japanese, not the actress that plays Minako.

^ Yeah, I read that her mom is Japanese and her dad is English.
Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with Ayaka's acting. I like her speaking and singing voice. It's just... cute somehow.

I like her too -- I think the way she acted was perfectly suited to the character. And she's very pretty in this picture (not quite so much in the series, at least in my opinion). I liked her singing, as well -- very catchy.

I agree about her fitting her part, I think she's more serious about her duty like she was in the manga. But it's funny in the Oshiokiyo session she says that she pronounced Artemis' name wrong: "Arutemis" instead of "Arutemisu" (It sounds the same to me)

It kind of bugged me. But anyway, Ayaka is a cutieface.
