Okay. I'm a little confused here. Manga has no fillers right? Rightio. (MotD and such) If the manga doesn't have any fillers...then in the very first vol. thingy, Sailor Moon destroys a youma? Or maybe she doesn't? Is it just monsters pop up here and there in the manga, but not every single issue?
*confused*

Based on the translations I have read she does destroy a youma. From what I understand the manga only shows important points in the story so there doesn't have to be a "Monster of the day". While the creators need to think up a new monster to bring out for just about every single episode they air. I'm not entirely sure about this though.

She does destroy youma, droids, etc. in the manga. They don't look the way they do in the anime, but they serve the same purpose, really. In the anime, they need to have youma attack each day because the plot needs to develop over several episodes. In the manga, there are 52 acts, and something important happens in every one. In the anime, there are 200 episodes, so they can't make every episode correspond with one act... they have to spread out the important events. So in between, they need something to take up the extra space. In the manga, I've always thought of the youma as being almost like extra characters... like "helpers" ot the Dark Kingdom, Black Moon Clan, etc. They also usually fill a little larger role in the manga. Consider the twins Chiral & Achiral. In the anime, they're just droids... regular monsters-of-the day. In the manga, however, they are the servants of Esmeraude, and they play a much bigger role.
