Okay, if you had to choose which version of Sailor Moon you could always view and not have the other two, which would you pick? Meaning, if you wanted the anime subtitled version, you couldn't have acess to the manga or the dubbed version, JUST the anime subtitled. I know it may seem kind of dumb to have dubbed up there, but I know a person who posted on a forum who said they would rather have dubbed, because in the japanese subtitled version, they can't get all the "action."
I prefer the manga. I just got done reading Vol. 11 (Princess Kaguya's Lover) and it was great! Although they should have done it manga style. I almost read the ending because I started at the back of the book and was reading from right to left. But noo, they thought some of us were dumb and began it at the front, from left to right. But anyway, I'd take the manga even though I've only read Vol. 11.

I would prefer the manga. Mainly because of the beautiful artwork and there aren't any fillers.

Even though I'd like to have it all I would have to pick the manga. As for the reason why, has anyone heard the "aren't you too old for this" lecture from your parents. My father gave me that when I used to watch the older version of the Care Bears (yes the Care Bears I seem to gravitate towards these shows for some reason) when it was on the Disney Channel. For now I'm keeping it a secret from my family until I can figure out a way to tell them. I definately don't want to hear that speach again.

Ohh, and here I was thinking that I was the only one that wasn't too fond of the anime. Don't get me wrong, I love it, and feel that Sailor Moon wouldn't be complete without it, but I would take the manga and even the live action version over the anime. The manga would definitely be my number one choice. Naoko's drawing style is so unique. And, especially, like Serafirefly said, there are no fillers. Every stage in the manga contributed to the story. The manga feels more full , expressive and ... like, heavy than the anime, which came off feeling very fluffed up to me.

I read the translations and you seem to have a point. Without the anime's fillers it's almost like what happens when an author leaves the word "and" out of some sentences when they aren't really needed. It makes a point more clearly and quickly. On the other hand, I think the fillers give more details to the lives of the characters in the story.

I prefer the manga. It's the original Sailor Moon imagined by Naoko, the pictures are great and the story is great. Also, the senshi have more attacks than in the anime and it's better, because they had a life on the moon and I don't thing they could protect the whole kingdom with one attack each. There are fewer villains also and the story always continues, not with the anime in which Senshi vainquish a monster and, in the next episode, they have another to fight.

I'm proud to be a philistine: I much prefer the anime over the manga. The anime is not without its shortcomings, but it provides the richest and most interesting continuity for the series (although that is partially just due to its length). Most of the villains only received the most basic characterisation in the manga, while the anime fleshed them out into wonderful characters like Crow, Seiren, Zoisite and the Amazoness Quartet. On a matter of personal preference, I'm also not that fond of Naoko Takeuchi's art style, and for the most part I prefer the look of the characters in the anime.

That is a good point as well. I like the fact that the anime shows much more detail in the lives of the characters of the story. I also like the way the characters looked in both. Had it not been for certain mentioned conditions I would prefer both. I'm sure there are problems with the anime and possibly the manga but the problems don't matter to me. They are part of the same basic storyline and I'll consider them as such. Then again I have only learned about the original anime version and have only read translations from websites so I maybe I shouldn't really have posted in the first place. As for the artwork I can't say that I prefer one over the other. I like both.

If I had to choose I would say the manga, I like the anime, but I like the manga more as to me the story is better in the manga then in the anime. It might not go in depth of some characters but I do believe it goes more in depth of Usagi and Mamoru's relationship. I mean compared to the anime with that its just well bam! and they are together. Also not much explanation of them really. Although I haven't watched all of the japanese version so I could be wrong on that. I've only watched the first half of season 1 and then stars. But yea not much into their relationship, not even in stars, which has really not much at all of them in it.

well, there really is pros and cons to each one.
Manga: It is the orgirinal story done by the author, BUT it has little in the way of character development
Anime: Anime has more character development, but has "filler" eps galore, and change the personalities and relationships.
Dubbed: keeps the same basic friendships and relationships in the anime, but AWEFUL dubbed lines and terrible cutting of the original.
ALSO Live Action such as PGSM: Good and creative, but if you don't like Power Rangers styled fighting, it isn't for you. Also can be monotonous.
If I had to choose however, I would definately pick the anime b/c I like the character development and funnier moments coupled with the sad moving ones.

Anime, hands down. The story is so much more complete, its funny, it goes it a slower pace (which is good, so you get more time to savor and enjoy!), I love the character development, and sometimes the story is just better! The animation is wonderful and the action is great!

The manga. It's more complete and gives the characters some background, unlike the anime. Also the manga Mamoru is ten times more loving and caring... It also has more sense in the Stars season, about all the Chibichibi-Cosmos-Light of Hope-Galaxia thing U__U Oh.. and the anime had TERRIBLE animation days.. Don't you remeber?

Yeah, I'd agree that when it animation is bad, its downright horrible. But when it's good, it;s amazing! Oh, and anime gives a lot of background too. Remember the Sailor V in England episode?

I actually didn't think the animation was bad at all, at least from what I saw. Sure they used the transformation sequences over again but I didn't mind.
Also from the research I have done a while ago there was background in the anime. Also despite the fact that I can't get the anime because of the situation that I have described earlier I like the fact that there was steady character development for all of the senshi throughout the series.
Either way I think, from what I have already learned, that all three have very strong points to them.
