I was watching PGSM with a cousin of mine. It was her first time watching it. She started to say, "Hey, this is a lot like the first Power Rangers!" And she went more in depth on how the villians looked/sounded alike, especially Queen Beryl and Rita Repulsa. Haha. While looking at the youmas, I was also thinking... hey... Power Rangers! yeaaah!

I agree with you guys. I think of PGSM as a female version of the Power Rangers. Like eternalmegan said, the anime and manga are better.

I don't know if it's just me but I hate it when people compare these two shows. Because to me, they really aren't alike. Yeah, I'm weird.

Of course it`s different, but it just reminds a lot of people about the original Power Rangers.

That is definetely not true that PGSM is similar to PW! Special Effects are much better in PGSM, only youmas can be said to be like the ones from PW. But story line, plots are uncomparable with PW. In PW every episode was just a fight with other monster and the same and the same with next episodes. PGSM has great story line and the end of the one act is beginning of the following one. I hate when people compare those 2 shows.

Wasn't Sailor Moon originally supposed to be a pardoy of Sentai-genre shows (which Power Rangers is)?

sorry but i cant stand this show, or poaerranger... i mean the wigs look rediculas... seriously Welcome to the club, that is EXACLY what I thought before I watched it. But trust me, if you watch the first few episodes you will get hooked on it....unless you've seen it and just don't like it.

Any super sentai show is going to be similar to ones that have come before it. I think they did a good job with PGSM. The costumes were good, the characters were fun, and even though they changed the story, I feel like it worked for a short live action series.
The whole "we dance when we fight thing" is really cheesy but it's also how stuff like that is made. It's for kids, mostly. It's not a serious drama and most of those girls were amatures anyway. I feel like Power Rangers was a little more corny but I might be bais because I prefer the Sailor Moon story.
I do believe that some of the costumes for the monsters in Power Rangers were actually used for PGSM so that would explain them looking the same. Toei produced both shows.
Aditionally, Aya Sugimoto, the woman that plays Beryl, is a very popular woman in Japan and has been involved in many projects (including nude modeling according to Wikipedia! XD) so it's also very likely that you have heard her voice or seen her in other shows.

Yeah, I agree with Sailor Astera. I'm kind of a bit confused about why they need to dance when they're fighting. All those spins and cartwheels, kind of silly! But either way, it does have a very serious plot line. I'm only on episode 21, so I'm not sure all about it yet, but so far I love it!
