When was Chaos referred to as a "he"?
Only in fanfiction, probably... Tend to rub off on you.

I have a hard time imagining any of the moon girls being able to reach old age and dying... there is the fact that Chaos, unfortunately, will never leave them alone, so sooner or later he or one of his children will do away with the queen... and sometimes even the princess as well. About the time they become queens, like someone pointed out I'd guess their powers would need to be mature in order for that to happen, and once again the threat of Chaos and his lackeys is one of the few things that can make that happen.
Anyway, did you notice that though we are told in the second manga arc that it's the Silver Crystal's power what gives longevity to the people of the future, in the Infinity arc we learn that it's the Holy Grail what helps Neo Queen Serenity keep her youth? How curious...
Not necesarily, because then it probably would have happened the same as it happened in cannon: Endymion would marry Serenity, therefore becoming a member of the Silver Millennium, therefore he would have the same priviledges that she grants her senshi, may be more as he would become a member of the first royal family, which means being granted longevity by the Silver Crystal. Remember that according to the myth of Selene and Endymon, Selene asked the gods to grant immortality to Endymion, so she could be with him forever.

Well, if we take into account Galaxia's manga story, senshi can even "reject" their planet to go look for another. When they say "the chosen star seeds grow into sailor crystals and go to the chosen planets" may be that means the sailor crystal/senshi herself must choose/select the planet? If that is so, can two crystals/senshi select the same planet? Maybe it can be so, especially if they're related? Like Moon and Chibimoon, a senshi who was born from another would want to remain the closest possible to her mother?
As for that dominant gene, I know she's inherited her mother's power, but Chibiusa's crystal is called the "Pink" Moon crystal when it was always called "Silver". Perhaps that's because of her "mixed" heritage?
I no longer think Chibiusa calling herself Sailor Chibi "Moon" is as significant as I used to think... Have you noticed that in the manga, though Chibiusa transforms into a Sailor Senshi in the Black Moon saga, everyone keeps calling her "Chibiusa", and she's not refered to as "Sailor Chibi Moon" till the next saga? So, what if it's the very sailor senshi herself who chooses what she will be called? What if no one called her Chibi Moon because Chibiusa hadn't had the chance yet to decide what her senshi name would be? What if Sailor Senshi names have to be "made up"?
We have several examples that Sailor Senshi names MAY be chosen at random. For example:
1) Sailor Kakyuu, who is the senshi of planet Kinmoku, invokes the power of Kinmoku to transform just like Sailor Mercury invokes the power of Mercury, yet she dosn't call herself Sailor Kinmoku, but Sailor "Kakyuu"...
2) We have, again, Sailor Galaxia, who we know in the manga that she's not REALLY Sailor "Galaxia": she rejected her planet and then fashioned herself into the guardian/owner of the Galaxy Cauldron, but her real senshi identity should have been "Sailor The-name-of-her-original-planet-whatever-that-was".
3) Then we have Sailor Chibi Chibi, who is a "fake" senshi identity (the true senshi is Sailor Cosmos) but a quite complete one, even with a transformation phrase of her own and all, invoking the power of the Chibi Chibi crystal (er... at least I like to think that phrase is part of the disguise and there is no ACTUAL Chibi Chibi crystal... or that Sailor Cosmos' doesn't really need that so-called Chibi Chibi crystal's power to transform! *sweat drop*)
4) And let's not get started on Sailor V... or Sailor Luna from PGSM (who was also designed by Naoko, so she counts as canon concerning what the creator of the series thought on what a senshi's name could be, no matter the version).
In other words... if *not every senshi* is called after her planet, may be that means senshi names can be chosen by each senshi, and may be Chibiusa "chose" for her senshi form to be called "Chibi Moon" due to all the admiration she feels for her mom, and because she eventually growed to lke the nickname "Chibiusa", so she decided on a combination of both, "Chibi Moon".

I do agree Prince Diamond's and the Witches 5's personalities were better in the manga, but the others were just different to an extent they can't really be compared:
In the manga, the Amazon Trio were just created by the Amazon Quartet and acted as their personal servants, while the Quartet are the real stars and brainwashed sailor senshi, not little girls just playing in the circus and causing trouble because they don't want to grow up. Not that their issues with growing up weren't interesting... it's just that I really liked them as sailor senshi.
Neherenia is Chaos' incarnation in that version...it would have been ludicrous for her to have some goodness in her when she was supposed to be dark counterpart of Queen Serenity and the very first incarnation of evil that appeared and *cursed* Princess Serenity when she was a baby... In the manga, Neherenia was the darkness in the moon that Sailor Moon had to beat in order to take her place as Queen of the Moon (even if she wasn't Queen of Earth yet) so it made sense in this version that she would be related to the new moon and all... whereas in the anime, Queen Neherenia was the queen of a kingdom on an asteroid, and how does that relate her to the moon at all?
The Shittenou were actually given a background in the manga, and as a result Mamoru also had a background in the manga. So did Wiseman with both his past as Death Phantom and being another Chaos incarnation. I do think Wiseman pretty much stayed the same, though, because in the manga he does manipulate Diamond and the others masterfully, hiding from them till the very end that he's actually planet Nemesis itself and wants to destroy earth, not conquer it (besides he DID want the Silver Crystal in the anime as well).
Finally, with Doctor Tomoe being truly evil and having to be killed, it does make more sense that Hotaru goes to live with the other outers. Sailor Moon having to kill the father of one of her senshi did make up for some real adult serious drama that the anime version lacked.
So I agree, though just partly, with that, because if the manga got repetitive with some one-dimensional villains, the anime also did get repetitive with all that redeeming of the bad guys. Besides, the idea of having the villains be truly evil, just for the sake of being evil, was that they were more like true demons, and some of their lackeys humans associating with those demons of their own free will consciously and beyond redemption.
The manga was supposed to be about good and evil truly clashing with one another, the angels (senshi) and demons (enemies) fighting for the fate of earth and then the galaxy... while the anime was about seeing the goodness in everyone. The manga does have a more realistic ending, in my opinion, in the fact that it shows some villains redeeming, like Galaxia and Lethe and Mnemosyne, combined with the honest revelation that evil will always exist, and we can't change that. On the other hand, the result of Sailor Moon not possessing the ability to "heal" them with the Silver Crystal, was that she and the other girls, Chibimoon included, forcefully had to be a lot tougher than in the anime, something I did quite like about the black and white story.

Seems like I definitely will be one of the members who gets advantage of the forum to ask questions. ;D
But seriously, do you think it's true? That the Queens in Sailor Moon, or may be just the ones of the Silver Millenium, can't actually kill their enemies, unlike the moon senshi? I mention this because I had been wondering one again, for a long time, the reasons why Neo Queen Serenity didn't kill Death Phantom/Wiseman when she first fought him. She said something about him being too strong or she not keeping a strong heart and her not being able to fight as a sailor soldier... but how come she was still able to capture him and send him to Nemesis?
Suddenly it hit me how Queen Serenity didn't kill her enemies either: both Metallia and Neherenia weren't killed, just sealed. Was it because Queen Serenity didn't have the power to kill them, or just that she knew that she shouldn't? ...Them being her brothers and sisters from the Galaxy Cauldron yadayadayada?

Yes, this is definitely an interesting question. I think the answer differs between anime and manga though. Well I think that question goes better for Metallia's resurrection instead of Beryl's. In the manga Beryl was just reincarnated after Sailor Venus killed her on the Moon Kingdom, and the four generals were reincarnated too. Queen Serenity did seal Metallia in both versions, and in the manga reincarnated-Beryl just comes across Metallia again, like she did in her past life, while she was investigating the North Pole in her present life, and awakened Metallia. I don't think Beryl finding and awakening Metallia earlier would have made a difference in the manga, though, since they needed the Silver Crystal to truly resurrect her, and in the manga the Crystal was inside Usagi... so to do anything they would have had forcefully to wait until Sailor Moon appeared or Usagi inadvertently gave some sort of sign as to her real identity, attracting their attention to herself... Would she have been able to transform then? I think she would have, because of what we learn through Chibiusa's own case: In the Black Moon arc we learned as you said that she's been stuck in the body of a child and powerless for 900 years, and all the senshi and King Endymion act as if that isn't normal, may be not even in Crystal Tokyo where people have long life-spans, something I think is a pretty good clue on the whole subject. The first thing Luna suggests after Sailor Moon is kidnapped, is that Chibiusa, as her daughter, should be able to use the Silver Crystal to rescue Moon, Mars, Jupiter and Mercury from planet Nemesis... And why suggest this, if this isn't an ability to be expected of a moon princess, to take over and use the Crystal in the absence of her mother, if an emergency required it? Which would mean, if this is an ability that Luna expected of a moon princess, and the one moon princess Luna was familiar with, that we know of, is Princess Serenity, then this means Princess Serenity must have been able to do the same... as in, take over in case of an emergency and in her mother's, Queen Serenity's absence. On the other hand, King Endymion argues that Chibiusa can't do it, because she's already 900 years old and still has no power and hasn't been able to transform. When Chibiusa's real age is revealed they are shocked and worried for how Chibiusa's being without power may affect the kingdom's future. May be this means that, though people had long life spans in both the Moon Kingdom and Crystal Tokyo, they still reached adulthood at the same pace as humans, and/or a princess of the moon was supposed to have shown some of her powers already by that time, even if her mother was still alive. Otherwise, why would they be so shocked and worried about Chibiusa not having done so, while Neo Queen Serenity was alive? Therefore, I think this means that, even though Princess Serenity/Usagi didn't transform to a senshi till Queen Serenity was dead and she was fourteen tears old after reincarnated, she must have had the ability to do so a lot before that... otherwise, Chibiusa's dilemma wouldn't have been treated as such a huge issue as it was treated, would it? In other words: I'm pretty positive this means Princess Serenity did have some powers on the Moon Kingdom, and she may have been able to transform if she truly wanted/needed because, unlike Chibiusa, she did have powers. The only difference was Princess Serenity wasn't expected to need to transform to a sailor senshi, because unlike Chibiusa she had her four guardians to protect her from a very young age, and the Moon Kingdom was supposed to be such a peaceful place, and then when she was reincarnated her memories and powers were sealed for her own protection (Luna does say something of the sort, if I recall correctly). Chibiusa's only real advantage was that in the manga she didn't need to be given a brooch to be able to transform, since by the time she was born her parents and the sailor senshi of the Solar System were already aware of the existence of their Sailor Crystals and how to use them to transform, something they apparently didn't know about when they were first awakened after reincarnated. So I also agree that Chibiusa becoming a senshi at a much younger age than Usagi wouldn't mean much. On the contrary, in the manga Chibimoon is always feeling inferior to Neo Queen Serenity, and then to Sailor Moon, as far the Dream arc (the manga version of SuperS). I do admit in the future things could change as she gw older, though. I do agree Sailor Moon is stronger in both anime and manga, but Chibimoon's Pink Sugar Heart attack in the manga does do a bit more damage, LOL. Well, I used to think something along those lines too, but then realized Chibimoon never does use the Golden Crystal on her own: Sailor Moon is always with her. May be Chibimoon can't use the Golden Crystal on her own either. Who knows? My conclusion: if Saior Moon got upgrades evry time the other senshi and Tuxedo lent her power, may be Chibimoon would get stronger if she got more people to lend her power, or an item that gave them more power than her mother ever had... However, if it were the case that Sailor Cosmos was truly Usagi's final form, then that would be somewhat improbable... because who can be stronger than the senshi that has the power of the entire cosmos? What do you guys think?

Sailor Luna's cute, but her mere existence confuses the heck out of me... I know sailor crystals are not even mentioned in PGSM, but the sailor senshi are *still* very obviously named after planets. So what planet is Sailor Luna named after? Not the moon, because there's Sailor Moon. And if she's the senshi from planet Mau or other, what is she doing so far away from her planet, why is she in our Solar System instead of watching over her own planet? Unless she's like Sailor Kakyuu, whose senshi name was different from that of her planet, Kinmoku... Sailor Kakyuu's exceptional name also confuses the heck out of me too. I think so too. The possibilities are endless. The author could justify it by saying Phobos and Deimos completed their training and awakened as sailor soldiers. It shouldn't matter if they weren't born on Phobos and Deimos but actually were from Koronis: Neherenia told Queen Serenity herself that they were the same because they both had come from far across the galaxy, hinting that may be Queen Serenity wasn't originally from the moon. Besides, they'd really look cute as sailor senshi. ;D

Yes, it could very well be that and actually I think that's a good possibility. Probably Lead Crow was envious of Phobos and Deimos because being a sailor soldier's partner or guardian is an honor just like being a sailor soldier is. However what throws me off a bit is how Phobos and Deimos are actually named after celestial bodies, the two moons of Mars, unlike Luna and Artemis. Besides, Lead Crow actually takes the trouble of stealing their star seeds, while Tin Nyanko just injures Luna and Artemis. Even though Kakyuu said Luna, Artemis and Diana had start seeds with power akin to the saior crystals, neither Tin Nyanko nor Sailor Lethe (who later on kills them in front of Usagi, illusion or not) were shown stealing their star seeds like Lead Crow stole Phobos and Deimos'... May be I am looking too deep into it, especially considering we will never know for sure, but I like to know other people's opinion on this: if you were to read a fic where Phobos and Deimos "evolve" to sailor soldiers, what would you think? (And yes, while at it, DO try not to think about PGSM Sailor Luna... )

According to the manga, Tin Nyanko and Luna and Artemis *are* from the same planet, planet Mau, protected by Sailor Mau till Galaxia and her Animamates came and destroyed it.
I just keep wondering, if Phobos and Deimos knew Rei from her past life, how come they only introduced themselves to her in the Dream arc, when they have been with her in their crow forms from the start... It just doesn't make sense to me why they would wait so long if they already knew Mars on the Moon Kingdom, but you're right... who knows?
So what do you think Phobos and Deimos are? Many sites mistakenly list them as sailor soldiers, but they aren't. However, Lead Crow does say something like they were all soldiers in training together, so I have to wonder what that means, exactly.

This is the new manga question that's been nagging my mind for a while: Were Phobos and Deimos the guardians and companions of Sailor Mars since the Moon Kingdom, or appointed to that task after it actually? Like just as Mars was reborn as Rei in the 20th century, for example?
In the Stars arc, they come across Sailor Lead Crow, who says she met Phobos and Deimos before they became Sailor Mars' partners, and as a result some people think Sailor Lead Crow has been alive since the Moon Kingdom too... But, considering in the manga version the Moon Kingdom didn't exist 1000 years ago, but was pre-historic, isn't that a bit long for a simple Sailor Animamate to be alive, even with Sailor Coronis's stolen crystal? This whole concept brings a hilarious image to my mind about Sailor Galaxia sitting on her throne in complete boredom, with Lead Crow at her side, looking at Earth from a crystal ball while waiting for Princess Serenity to be reincarnated:
Galaxia (tapping her foot impatiently while watching Usagi's parents going on their first date): "...Come ON!!! I've already conquered half of the galaxy!?? ...Have sex already so your kid can be born and destroy Chaos so I can kick her arse afterwards and become ruler everything?? So have sex ALREADY!!!!!"
Lead Crow: "Er... actually, they're just Sailor Moon's great great great grandparents. Earth's now going through the XV century..we still have 500 years to wait"
Galaxia (pulling her hair out in frustration): "ARGHH!!! Da n you, Sailor Moooooon!!!!!!!"

Asanuma

I noticed you say at the end of the manga section of Asanuma's page that he doesn't appear again after the Black Moon arc of the manga, but he *does* appear. He makes an appearance in the Stars arc, act 45 (the one right after Jupiter and Mercury are killed by Aluminum Siren). Usagi is worried about Mamoru not writting or calling her and she goes to ask Asanuma if he has Mamoru's phone number in the States, and he says he doesn't have it but promises he will asks Mamoru's friends at the University if they have it. I just checked that scene and remember it pretty well because personally I think Asanuma looked his best there, LOL.

That's probably because the movie followed the manga in that respect: in the manga, both Moon and Chibimoon receive kaleido-moon-scopes (or whatever those weapons are called) from Pegasus, and from then on both can perform Moon Gorgeous Meditation, together or separately, without the aid of Pegasus. While in the anime Pegasus lends Moon the power of the Golden Crystal each time to perform this attack, in the manga he doesn't even have the Golden Crystal, but is looking for it (they eventually find it's inside Mamoru's body) and Neherenia herself is looking for the Silver Crystal and doesn't even seem to know the Golden Crystal exists. Bits of both the Sailor Moon S and the SuperS transformation could be combined to make one of Usagi alone. I would definitely have loved if her SuperS form had kept the butterfly wings that appeared at the end of the Sailor Moon S' one.

I would make the senshi be in more accident-rescue situations, like how they would rescue a school bus filled with kids that's fallen from a cliff. And I'd make them fight common normal criminals more often, actually show how they avoid bullets and gunshots, etc.
I would definitely make them able to fy/float like they do in the manga, and be able to teleport separately in short distances from SuperS onward. I would alter the fillers so they respect the manga premises: for example, the Rainbow crystals aren't pieces of the Silver Crystal, they just help summon the Silver Crystal from wherever it is (in Usagi's body).
I would also definitely ditch all the objects like dream mirros, heart crystals, yada yada (because just "how" many objects can a person have inside them?) or at least keep them to a minimum.
Someone pointed out about the monsters being real monsters like in the manga. Amen to that.
I would combine the anime and manga in the sense that the senshi would have to actually kill more enemies, but not that many. For example, kill Professor Tomoe, Kaolinet and the Witches 5 like in the manga, but make the Wicked Sisters turn good like in the anime and Diamond sacrifice himself for Sailor Moon. Make Neherenia be good and the queen of a random asteroid like in the anime, but possessed by the evil spirit of the Queen of the New Moon, which is the Neherenia of the manga (which I woud call Hecate instead, to tell them apart), so Sailor Moon destroys evil-Neherenia/Hecate and sends good Neherenia to the past to start her life all over. Keep all the manga personalities, especially Rei's, Mamoru's and Chibiusa's (and their manga powers). Definitely keep all the manga only characters and Quartet, and make Endymion's guardians, the Shittenou/Generals, revive. Keep some of the humor of the anime, but more mature and less repetitive (I got tired of how everyone would wait for Usagi to say or do something stupid in order to sweat drop... in the manga even Michiru has her funny moments *as in real funny moments* like when se snaps her lipstick in two when Yaten tells her that her lipstick color clashes with her skin color; so why make Usagi the only clown of the series again and again? I like how she actually *grows up* in the manga)

Yes, and in the manga I think it's kind of more ambiguous exactly *how* they get the new brooches to transorm into Super form without the Grail. I mean, they just summon the Holy Chalices (two, because Moon and Chibimoon each have their own since the Death Busters/Infinity season/arc) and when the chalices fade away they realize it's because the Holy Chalices are summoned each time with the powers of them, plus the inners' and the three outers', but Neptune, Pluto and Uranus aren't there to lend their power so the Chalices can't be completely summoned and just disappear again. So they just put their hands to their chests and say "But we want to transform, the power is in us" (or something like that) and then their brooches change, allowing them to transform into Super Sailor Moon and Super Chibimoon. Then they ask Pegasus for new weapons....
So my doubt is whether in the manga the brooches are supposed to have powered-up because of Pegasus or not. May be it was their own power. Either that or Pegasus was able to summon the land of Elysion to suply the power to make up for Uranus, Pluto and Neptune's absence (and given so many fans say Tuxedo's Golden Crystal is supposed to be as powerful as Sailor Moon's crystal, that would mean his kingdom Elysion is supposed to have as much power as the Moon *as in the planet whose power Sailor Moon summons in the final battle against Metalia in the manga* if perhaps dormant). In the anime, remeber it is not the power of Pegasus himself though, but the Golden Crystal's, which he carries in his horn.
What Ellethwen said about the SuperS/Dream arc Super form being a lesser form is entirely possible, given it is not Super Sailor Moon, but Eternal Sailor Moon who defeats Neherenia for good.
