This is a question an online buddy of mine(who is actually in his fifties) rose: With the internet becoming a more and more important part in our lives, would you demand in your last will(or at least ask for that, to whomever is around you in your final moments) to let your online buddies know? And it's a pretty good question too! Personally, I don't know, is it right to tell people you don't personally know you died, or is it just useless distress causing? But then again, don't the people you've been talking to for the past years deserve to know? What do you think? And no, I'm not dieing! Hopefully for the next 40 years or so edit: Yes, I'm aware of the errors in the poll, serves me right for making it at 11 pm...

Well, definitely! At least because they deserve to know. I mean, I know it's not really a very happy thing, but it's not that you don't know when your relatives die just because you would be depressed about it. Death is quite an important thing, isn't it?

Well, I'd like Kumar (been pen pals for 6 years) and you people on the Oracle to know...because I've spent year(s) talking to you so in a way I feel close to you (as close as you CAN be to someone you only know online).

I would say yes. Friends you've made online would like to know. You may not be so emotionally attached as you would be in real life, but it's worse to keep people in the dark. Especially if you've been acquainted with each other for a long time.

Some of my closest friends are online, so of course. They're all important to me, and they would have the right to know.

Sorry folks, but if I was on my deathbed, my online life would be the last thing on my mind. In any case, I don't know if I'd include anything in my will. I could just ask a close offline friend to do it for me and not bother putting it in my will somewhere.

haha, I already told my husband that he has to post that I'm dead on my website AND make sure that it stays running until his death. Betty Ann is dead? No problem, you can still get all the screencaps you need!

I think I would, because I have friends on the internet, and other overseas friend whom I write to on the internet, so I wouldn't want to think that I just decided to ditch them all. Besides, I've already organised what one of my best friends will do if it happens before I make a will.

I can say that I really don't see a point to let people now that I'm dead. Although, I can let a few messageboards know as in, the few I'm active on. I mean, have someone let those boards know, seeing as I would be dead.
