I was searching for an article to report on for school and came across this: From Sailor Moon to Powerpuff Girls: Female Action HeroesIt's not anything new (female empowerment and the like) but I thought it was a neat read, particularly since I've been on a huge PPG kick lately. What surprised me is how accurate the article is regarding Sailor Moon. Most of the time when I see Sailor Moon mentioned in the news, it's only about Classic. The people who wrote this article appear to have at least watched R. There are also some interesting disucssion questions at the end regarding Sailor Moon: I wish I could use this for school, but it's not long enough. Either way, I thought it was interesting. EDIT: Oh! I clicked the link next to the picture of Sailor Moon and was taken to this article: Gender and sexuality in Japanese anime. Uranus and Neptune are discussed a bit, as well as how the anime had some issues with English-speaking audiences. Not entirely SM-related, but still neat.
