I don't mean to revive a dead thread and to seem racist but there may be an anatomical explanation for this. My late grandparents, who lived through World War II, and other WWII veterans always referred to the Japanese as "sakang," or "the bow-legged ones." The Chinese have lived concurrently with the Filipinos and intermarried with them so frequently, so the Chinese were often referred to as "singkit" or "the slant-eyed ones". I guess they needed something to differentiate the enemy (Japanese) from the ally (Chinese, check your history to see why) so the first thing the Filipinos of that era noticed were that the Japanese were bow-legged. Now my dad used to go to Japan during the 1970s while working for Pocketbell (right when WWII wasn't quite a distant memory, oh the irony), and he noticed that not a few of the Japanese were indeed quite bow-legged, compared to himself and his other Filipino colleague at least. I remember showing him a Sailor Moon playing card with exactly this same image of Mercury below, and he wasn't the least bit surprised. In fact, when he found out that Sailor Moon was a Japanese production, he had an "Aha!" moment. I hope this explains things. And again I don't mean to be racist or anything, just stating an observation as a fact.

Old thread is insanely old.
Not that it matters.
Anyway, I got two simple explanations for that pose and they have nothing to do with human anatomy. A) She's actually sitting on an invisible chair and the camera angle makes her *appear* to be standing or B) She drank too much water.

Excellent, Larry. Truly, truly excellent heheh. Haruka173: I quite like that reason, actually. It makes a lot of sense. I never really thought too much of that pose too much, and this thread actually reminds of the time when I was like seven of something, and my best friend and I used to pretend we were Senshi. *laughs nervously* We actually stared at the scenes for ages so we could figure out EXACTLY how they posed. So the Mercury pose was never hard for me ^_^;;.

I know this is like reviving an ancient thread, but why does that matter when this place is basically digging its own grave, right? xD
Anyway, I posted here before, but I just wanted to add that it's not only Mercury's pose. In animation there's a LOT of odd things that I notice, especially when it comes to certain movements in transformation sequences. They kinda leave me wondering "what an awkward body position", and it's usually the ones that the artists TRY to make realistic, but they come out all uncomfortable and physically impossible.
