I'm sitting here watching the R series for the millionth time.. and something popped into my head. In the anime, Sailor Mars acts more like a leader than Sailor Venus does. Mars is always the one saying "We'll be your opponents!", "Take Chibiusa somewhere safe!", and other leaderly type lines. Once in a while Venus will do something, but more often than not it seems like Mars takes the leading role.
Does anyone else notice this besides me, or am I just crazy?

Maybe it's because Rei is closer to Usagi than everyone else and she's looking for Usagi's best interest most of the time?

Venus did show some leadership skills in the anime -- right now all I can think of is the scene in the R movie where she initiates the Sailor Planet Attack and then tells everyone to help Sailor Moon when the Kisenian flowers swarm and attack. But I think you're right, she wasn't the de facto leader of the Sailor Team in the anime. They all seemed pretty much on equal ground with each other.

You know, I can't say for sure. I'll have to go back and re-watch the R Season again before I can give a honest statement. If my memory serves right though, Raye/Sailor Mars displayed more leadership qualities in the R Season.

I have to look the R season again to be sure...but I think Rei has much more leadership qualities than Minako...Minako's personality is similar to Usagi's.

You're definately spot on with this thread. Rei does seem to display more leadership qualities and concern for her fellow senshi, atleast more so than Minako.
I hate that in the anime they changed Minako's personality to fit that of a pigeon. I mean, yeah, she want's to be famous, but what's the deal with all the childish outbursts and lack of intellect? Every time I listen to "When I Grow Up" by the Pussy Cat Dolls I can't help but think of Minako. I get the slightly disturbing image of her making out with a burger and rolling around on the hood of a tricked out car, Ala-Paris Hilton. o.O
"When I grow up I wanna be famous, see the world, drive nice cars, I wanna have groupies..."
*rollz*

I don't know. It's only a guess. That and since Raye presents a bit more seriousness on more situations than most of the other Senshi anyways.

I think they made Serena and Mina more silly to add comedy to the show, just like they made Serena and Raye fight a lot, to make the kids watching they show laught. But what do I know, they might have been making fun of blondes...

I never really thought about this, to be honest. I thought Mars did this alot seeing as she seemed alot closer to Moon and only wanted the best for her. Granted, Venus can be very leader-like at times, but Mars DOES show alot more leadership qualities. I mean, Moon left her with the Crescent Moon Wand, that's gotta mean something, right?
