Oh, I too love the Bat. And in my opinion, Michael Keaton was the best Batman. I think Michael Keaton was the best Batman in his own way, but I still think that Christian Bale makes it more real, and in that way, he's my favorite. It's the same principle with the Joker. I love the Jack-Joker, but Mr. Ledger's Joker has such a hard edge to it, it's hard to determine which will be better. It's hard to even say that one is "better" because they're all so amazing in different ways. As far as comics and graphic novels go, I love the 3 written and illustrated by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. They are Haunted Knight, The Long Halloween, and Dark Victory, in that order. Another good one is Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth. SO GOOD!!!!! Oh, and I'm going to go ahead and get this out there: I'm not only a Batman in general fangirl; I kind of have a thing for Batman villians... :-*So...yeah...^^ CAN HAS!

I know this technically makes it a double post, but it's been a while since the first one, so I thought it would be okay....
SO. TDK. It. is. amazing. Go see it. Rightnow.
[glow=green,2,300]FROM HERE ON IN THIS POST, IT'S SPOILERS![/glow]
Christian Bale gave us another great performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and I found it interesting that we saw a lot more of his BW persona in this movie. But what really made the movie for a lot of people that I've talked to was Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker. And what do you expect? The performance aside, the fact that Mr. Ledger is dead and this being his last performance (or something like that) is enough to keep tongues wagging. But watching the movie, you get so caught up in the Joker, you kind of forget that the guy playing him is no longer with us; the character is that strong. All talk of Ledger winning awards for his role in this movie sounds good to me; he deserves it. Oh, and by the way, did anyone else find it eerie when the thugs towards the beginning of the movie said they had killed the Joker, and pulled back that black plastic bag to reveal the Joker's body? Creepy stuff...Michael Caine as Alfred is his stunning self as usual, and both Morgan Freeman (Lucius Fox) and Gary Oldman (James Gordan) have larger parts in the grand scheme of things. I was particularly pleased with how Gordon's character was developed in the movie, and the scene with Two-Face and his son at the end? Yeah, I was totally about to cry. Maggie Gyllenhaal was much better as Rachel Dawes. Sorry, Katie. And, I mean, I wasn't a big fan of Rachel from the first movie; she was always kind of...pissed off, it seemed. Ms. Gyllenhaal made her more believeable, and likeable, even if she looks kind of wierd sometimes. Aaron Eckhart (sp?) did a wonderful job as Two-Face/Harvey Dent. I was a bit unsure if he could do it; not because of his acting skills, I always had faith in those, but just because of his general "look" (the same reason many people were unsure if Heath Ledger would be able to play the Joker). But I was proven wrong; and thank you, Mr. Eckhart, for proving me wrong.
BUT enough about that. I want to talk about the parts I liked.
As I said, the part with Gordon and Two-Face at the end was just stunning. I was tearing up there.
And I also loved when the Joker did his little "magic trick" with the pencil; it made me laugh. In fact, the Joker just made me laugh a lot. Dunno if that makes me psycho, but still.
I had spasms of fangirlish delight seeing the Joker in his nurses' costume. And as he was leaving the hospital, and his detonator wasn't working? ...*smiles really big*
When Bruce Wayne drives his Lamborghini in between the car with Reese (sp? again) and that truck, and then asks to go to the hospital, etc. I giggled.
The interrogation scene with Gordon/Batman/the Joker was super good. "Never start with the head"....
I thought the way they introduced the Joker was great. "Ha. Ha. Ha. Oho. Hee. Hee . HA. And I thought MY jokes were bad."
I only wish they'ed stayed more accurate to the story of how Harvey Dent became Two Face, with Maroni throwing acid at him during trial. If you're interested for a good interpretation of that story, read The Long Halloween, mentioned earlier in this thread.
Whoever played Sal Maroni...good job.
OK, but the bank manager at the very beginning of the movie, with the bank heist? He looked super familiar. I have yet to IMDB him, but I feel like he's been in some other movie I've seen and liked.
Batman > Ironman. FOREVER.

Marvellous! I watched the film, and I really liked it. Of course it had weak points, but that was nothing serious. The action scenes were sometimes confused, and not all the actors were good in the same way. But let's go to the good points, and there are lots of them. First of all, the good actors, of course. I found Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman (lovely as always ), Christian Bale and the Incredible Heath Ledger (the best among these ones) convinced about their roles and convincing. Ledger is a monster, in a good way. He's terrible, adorable and hatable at the same time. He's masochistic, and Batman is sometimes sadistic. They are the cat and the mouse, and they really can't live without each other. Batman is full of anger, and is not at all funny. The JOker, on the contrary, is a real psycho, is really evil, but can paradoxally make people laugh (I'm referring to the hospital scene. Gosh! XD ) just before the trauma of something terrible. Jack Nicholson was different, but they were both good for the role. A very good movie, I didn't expect something like that.

I agree with you on the hospital scene, but I think I mentioned that before. Talking about the cat and mouse; well, as the Joker says: "You...complete...me!" The only complaint about the movie is that it is really really long. Like, I enjoyed it while I was watching it, and by the end, I wasn't ready for it to end, but there were several points that at the time seemed to be the movie's climax but weren't, and I was just thinking, "okaaaaayyyy....so what's next?"

Your last thought was mine too, during for example the action sequence in the palace, where Batman has some special glasses. XD Too frenetic... but again, it's just a complaint; overall it's far better than Batman Begins, and maybe it's almost at the level of the Burton's ones, in different ways. For example, this movie is less oniric and weird, it's more realistic, but it has more psychological depth.

Burton's movies were magical, but in different ways. My biggest "complaint" is best summed up in the words of Jett at Batman on Film in relation to Batman Returns. In an article, he says: "BATMAN RETURNS is “Batman” in name only. It’s a Tim Burton film that just happens include a few characters that you might find in a Batman comic book." (This is taken from a series of blogs he's written while watching the Batman movies; they're pretty good. See them here: www.batman-on-film.com/blogging-bat-movies_menu.html) Of course, I love Tim Burton...and I LOVED Batman Returns. It's just not much of a BATMAN film...it's a BATMAN VILLIANS film. *shrugs*

I just saw the movie. It was a bit on the quick side in terms of pacing, but otherwise fantastic. The hype was justified---especially in regards to Ledger's performance as The Joker.
