Yay for obsessed LotR fans, because after all our work signing petitions and begging New Line and Peter Jackson, we're getting a Hobbit movie! Actually, 2. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh will be executive producing them. New Line and MGM will be working together. lol, I actually learned exclusively from a senior publicist at Entertainment Weekly, before the news was released anywhere else. I feel special now, because they tell me that stuff because of my website. Anyways, there's a blog up: www.thehobbitblog.comI'll post new news up on my website if you're interested: www.evenstar.crowned-meadow.net (and no, that was not shameless self-promotion. Not at all.) I'm so excited! Who ese is anticipating this movie?

I'd be happier if someone other than Peter Jackson were in charge, but it's still something to look forward to and hope he doesn't mess up so badly this time round.

Well, you do have to keep in mind that Peter Jackson has limits...
For example, if he were to make a movie with all the minor piddling characters in it that Tolkien was able to put in (because it was a book, and you can be as wordy as you want in books), people would get confused. If he didn't expand the women's roles, he'd get women's rights groups on him. Not to mention there's only so much technology can do.
I, personally, think he did a really excellent job. It all boils down to the fact that movies and books are completely different artforms, and there's only so much you can do when putting a book into movie form-especially one as deep as LotR.

Yep I totally agree, I think he did a fantastic job. Besides book to movie translations rarely work out because if they did you'd have to have a 7 hour movie. And while I would watch that, I doubt many people would lol. Especially with the Lord of the Rings books, that would be like a 12 hour movie for each one Anyway I can't wait to see The Hobbit movies! And you put the wrong link up Ellethwen lol it's thehobbitblog.com not thehobbitmovieblog.com
