My mum is a librarian, and she was reading all of these spoilers (shame on her!) and I went up behind her and accidentally read some of it. Who writes what's going to happen in bold sixe 700 font anyway?

GAHHHHH! That’s all? That’s all we Ron/Hermione shippers get, is one kiss and a vague reference to them being married? What the frick? And what the heck was up with Lupin and Tonks dying, and we don’t even get to see it happen, let alone how the burials went or how Tonks’ mother would go on, even though she’d lost her husband and only child? And why wasn’t Tonks’ with Harry as a ghost when he went to confront Voldy? Did he like her too? Or Dobby, for that matter, or any of the other people he cared about. And that epilog just sucked! I’m sorry, but I would have been MUCH more interested in the next few weeks, not years and years later. How was George going to end up, when his other half and best friend is gone? He’d already lost what made them so special, i.e. their like appearances. How could he go on? Would he keep the shop with all the memories? How did Ron and Hermione ever get married? Did they even tell each other they loved one another? Was it just sort of assumed by everyone but them? If so, why didn’t WE get more of a glimpse all these years? What happened to Luna? Did she and her dad reunite? Did anyone ever thank her for all her help? If Rowlings wasn’t going to give a big info dump on anybody at all, why didn’t she just make Luna and Neville get married anyhow? What was the big deal with them together, when nearly everyone wanted it? I think she just wanted to show she was still in control of her series, no matter what the fans wanted. I respect that, but I still wish they could have ended up together, even if it was only mentioned in passing. And I would have loved to see them rebuild Hogwarts better than new, and with new teachers and stuff. Who would end up as DADA teacher? Is the position still cursed? Neville had to have ended up as Herbology professor, of course. And who else died? It said fifty did; and not one of them was a named character? Poor Dobby! He was so brave and true! Kreacher turned out all right in the end, too, even if he was still mostly loyal to Regulus. And didn’t a lot of people think the locket was going to be his? It was so simple and obvious, so why did everyone make such a big deal of it? And Neville kicks butt! Harry couldn’t have never had done it without Neville! I love Neville and, if I was willing to write for my horrible Mary-Sue, she’d end up with him. Luna would end up with Dean, since I think the developed something, spending all that time together. Almost being killed and being trapped together can do that to people. I mean, heck, Hermione hated Ron and Harry before they almost died with the troll. Did anyone else notice Dean took her hand, right before the battle? Oh, and the ceiling in her room made me cry! I’ve felt that way about only a handful of people, myself! I also figured out, from the ages of the kids at the end, that none of them got married too soon afterward, not until their early twenties, which I find unbelievable. If you just went through a war, and almost died over and over, you’d want to marry as soon as the dust cleared. It happens all the time after wars. In the US, that’s how the baby boomers came about. And I think it stupid that Percy only just showed up at the very end with a really rushed ‘hi, I’m sorry, let’s do this’ air. I would have loved to have had at least a page or two in the epilog explaining how he felt, what happened to him. And I don’t care who’s in charge, no one’s going to let the Malfoys go after all that. And what makes a Hogwarts ghost a ghost? Does somebody just have to die on the grounds, like Myrtle and the Grey Lady? If so, could those who died become ghosts too? Couldn’t Fred become a ghost? And why didn’t Snape get a portrait in the headmaster’s office? He was headmaster too, and he turned out to be good in the end. I can’t believe Snape turned out so very good (he’s still mean and nasty, though). He was in love with Lily from the get-go, and had to watch her end up with his mortal enemy. But Snape was snide to James in the beginning; James was a jerk too, plain and simple. I think children and teenagers can be so mean and heartless, it makes me want to lock them all up until they’ve all agreed to be nice to each other; I could at least forestall a lot of wars, anyhow. But Snape shouldn’t have joined the Deatheaters, if he loved Lily so very much. Hey, what if Harry had been his, like a lot of fanfiction like to say? I know there’s going to be a lot of fanfiction to crop up now where Lily had a torrid affair, and Harry really is Snape's. But he looks like James, so I don’t know how people would get around that. Maybe a glamour, or a constant infusion of some sort of polyjuice potion. Oh, it was so sad when Harry found out the truth. And what was the baby thing in his mind? The part of Voldermort or his own faults, or what? I didn’t get that. And I was so sad to learn Dumbledore wasn’t so nice. But then, I think this series is supposed to say that people have their differences and people have their faults, and you should never judge a book by its cover. I can’t believe, all this time, the bartender was his brother! I never even thought of that, even thought it described his eyes at least once before, I know. But that epilog! To reiterate, the epilog sucked.
Wooo, I am so glad to get that all off of my chest. I read all day yesterday, from the moment I woke up to about an hour before I went to bed; I could not put it down. It was rushed, it was cliché, It rang a little too much like a lot of other series I’ve read to be completely original. But I wouldn’t have traded Harry Potter and his world for anything.

I'm confused about the Horcruxs versus the Hallows. I'm not even sure what the hallows are. but anyway....
awww...two non essential characters die..Hedwig and Dobby *cries* But I think the most movng for me was Snape's death, somehow. I agree about Percy's sudden appearence, it seemed kinda desperate. But I don't get how Harry finally defeated You-Know-Who....

But I don't get how Harry finally defeated You-Know-Who.... I think the idea is that, because he was the true owner of the Elder Wand, the wand's power rebounded and killed Voldemort. Or something.

Went in costume as a generic witch to a midnight release party at Borders, waited in line an hour and a half, read it in one day (stayed up till 2 AM wih is almost a record for me), was completly astounded, and I have this to say: Besides my being upset at many of the deahts, this is my favorite book by far. It's been a long time since I've gotten chills while reading a book (not since I read LotR the first time 'round), but I did this time. Vlodemort was his usual evil awesome self, and it was all ve very cool. And I was right about Snape being innocent! My favorite character redeems himself for killing my second favorite character!!! Although I wasn't correct about Harry not being a Horcrux, but hey, at least I got my more important wish right. But...why LUPIN AND TONKS AND HEDWIG AND FRED? WHHHHYYY???Couldn't she have picked people that weren't so popuar? *cries*

I was SO sad about Hedwig. I think the ending lacked a lot of substance. I agree with puff222001 that it was a let down and a pretty shotty attempt at 'tying it all in.' Fred seemed to be a random pick to die, and since it wasn't spectacular or interesting or important that he dies I think it was a little stupid. Would've been more interesting for Neville or Luna or one of the more important DAs to have died heroically. I think it would've been better, at least, if Fred had died saving his family.
I am disappointed that Draco didn't have a larger role. He just kind of crapped out.

I had an inkling Snape wasn't all that bad as he appeared to be too, and I'm glad. I didn't want him to die though.

ugh, i was completely disappointed by the ending. i think it was pretty rushed and very much along the lines of, "ok, i'm done now!" i think that harry potter evolved into more than simply the story of harry, but also of luna, neville, the weasley, and especially mcgonagall! i think she was such an important player in the series and thought that she might have a little more face time and something up her sleeve as well! i do think they explained aunt petunia's hatred for wizards brilliantly. it just makes a lot of sense.

wasn't there supposed to be a muggle that did magic?

I think it was a rumor that went around that Aunt Petunia started doing magic. J.K. disproved that on her website. So maybe that's it.
But if they do magic, could we really call them a muggle? :-P (I wonder what would happen if you aclled 'ol Voldy a "Muggle that did magic". Kill you, probably.)
I have to admit, having pretty much grown up with Harry Potter, I was a little reluctant to close the book.
