Death Note a excellent Manga and a live action movie of Death Note was created now the anime aired in Japan last week and it is good. (brief summary taken off of Wikipedia) Light Yagami is a genius, but bored, high school student who feels that the whole world is a rotten mess, filled with crime and corruption. His attitude quickly changes when he finds a mysterious notebook with the title "Death Note" on it, lying on the ground during the year 2003. Although initially skeptical, after realizing that the "Death Note" is a Shinigami's tool with the power to kill anyone whose name is written on its pages, Light decided to use it to "cleanse" the world of evil. Soon, the many unexplainable deaths of reported criminals are noticed, and Light becomes hunted by the Japanese police force and a mysterious detective known as "L". L quickly discovers that the murderer, that the publics dubs "Kira", is located in Japan, and that he can kill just by knowing someone's face and name. Light realizes that L is just as cunning, if not more intelligent than himself, and begins a cat and mouse chase with L to see who will be the first to have his identity exposed. for more information about Death Note en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_noteI've read up to volume seven of Death Note and it is my favirote manga. They have episode 1 and 2 on youtube episode 1 is subbed but I'm not sure about episode 2.

*Jumps up and down* I looooove Death Note! I started reading the manga last summer, but kind of stopped after ... well, I don't want to give anything away, but I got bored with it. I think I'll get back into it now that I've seen the first two episodes of the anime. L is the best ^^ Yes, several people have now put up episode 2 subbed.

Don`t read if you don`t want any spoilers.
Just saw the last episode of Death Note. It made me sick. The last few minutes of it. Light is such a b**** and a P...well ya know. I can`t believe he used to be my fav. character until he killed L. Anyway, he still tries to deny that he`s Kira. Then when he finally admits that he is Kira because Near and Mello together caught him, and his accomplise Teru something, he calls on Misa and Takuda. How dare he call on Misa and Takuda to help him. He killed poor Takuda who supposedly was gonna be the goddess of the new world. And he always went behind Misa`s back, manipulating her and betraying her, just to get what he wants. Everything he did thoughout the show was to his benefit. He even had me thinking that he actually cared about certain people like Misa or his father throughout the show.
This Anime teaches you several things. Watching the last episode, it made to sad and sick to think about how Light went from an ordinary college student (I think he was in college, maybe high school) to a power hungry so called God. It also teaches you how far people will go just to obtain power and to keep it and to rule with it. It`s not that bad in real life but people do get power hungry...I mean look at some of the problems money has cost the world. It`s a shame. There isn`t any realism in the Anime as far as Death Note`s and Shinigami are concerned but it does revolve around power and control and that`s something that the world is dealing with right now. And it`s really a shame. I almost got teary eyed watching the last few minutes of the last episode of Death Note and relating it to the real world. Some people are really something.

Raise your hand if you went through the whole series without a spoiler because I have not yet met a person who has... I was only on episode 2 and manga volume 3 when I got hit with two of the biggest spoilers ever (the you-know-what and the ending).
I liked the ending, though I kind of prefer the anime ending because Light looked more sympathetic. It fit the whole depressing theme the series had from the start.

You know what... it's been on two episodes so far on Adult Swim (this Saturday and last Saturday) but I only watched the first one. It was so awesome that I even programmed it on my TV because I wanted to watch and see what happened next... but that doesn't help if you're not in the room to watch it >_< I need some kind of damn reminder lol It looked pretty cool.

I couldnt agree more. I finished the anime recently, read some of the manga and watched the first live action movie (WHICH WAS HORRIBLE) I really enjoyed DeathNote (NOT THE MOVIE) and my fav character goes to L =3 At first I was thinking Light was "good" but then arrghhh.. I just really wanted him dead..

Lol I miss the puppy dog Light from the first ep. ;__; And spoilers!... duh dun...
When Light lost his memories and suddenly stared up at the camera and *blinked* I had a Ryuuga Rena moment. Cute innocent pre-deathnote Light is just too adorable for me to handle... later psychotic egotistical mass-genocide Light... not so much. But I do love his EvilGlareofDoom(TM).
And the last episode was depressing... and the really pathetic part of that was because I was all revved up and waiting to see Light's "swimming lessons" and they totally dooped us. ;_; if you don't know what I'm talking about google it. Stupid image boards and their intelligence lowering powers... Well anyway. ^^;
The whole series really does get too pretensious for it's own good though... I seriously watched it for the lulz as much as I did for the seriousness. (The epic potato chip scene and all of lights special little glare moments for example)
When L died I was depressed but I knew he would at the same time. Still though, my favorite part of the series was probably when Light lost his memories and was working with L on the case. Nearly everyone I like dies in that series. ;_;
