Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks the final Sailor Senshi uniforms in the manga are... well, kinda ugly?
They're unique, don't get me wrong. I love the layered skirt and the ribbons around the waist. The long gloves are cool too. But what in the world is up with the ball-shaped sleeves? And Eternal Sailor Moon's outfit has too many colors, in my opinion. The red, blue, and yellow together would've been just fine. But to randomly throw pink in for the sleeves just looks unbalanced because there's no other pink in that outfit.
I've been thinking about it for a while because I've noticed the new fad on Youtube is to make "Eternal" transformations for the Sailor Team. (Of course, they mostly end with still shots of the senshi with new uniforms MS Painted on... ugh.) I keep seeing them and I want to yell "WHYYY? The final outfits were ugly and they all looked alike!"
I infinitely prefer Super Sailor Moon's outfit in both the manga and anime. The rainbowy effect on the skirt in the manga works really nicely because the outfit has so much white, but trying that on Eternal Sailor Moon's outfit... nah, doesn't work.

I, personally, really liked the final uniforms, but they sort of lost their...uniqueness...between each other, didn't they?

I like the final uniforms, even though they are very similar, but yet again depends on the taste.

I have to agree with you on this. The final outfits are nice, but the sleeves are wrong. They look like plastic, how can they move their arms so freely? I, personally, prefer the Super Sailor Moon outfit. Love the rainbow on the skirt. Looks sooooo much better than a number of layers. The eternal outfits look really heavy

I really liked the sleeves :-P
I don't think they're made of anything heavy; they're just poufed fabric.
The rainbow on Super Sailor Moon's skirt was awesome, though.

If they're poofed fabric, they need a little less of solid shape.. you've seen poofy sleeves, they're not perfectly round! I think that's what's odd about them.

Well, we do have to keep in mind that it is, in fact, just a manga...the drawing can't be spot-on.

I personally never really liked the final forms of the Senshi. The biggest reason for me has to be that they were all too alike, and I really liked how each Senshi had something unique about their fuku (in the manga, at least; in the anime, the Inner Senshi's uniforms didn't have the unique details such as Venus's chain link belt and Mars's waist brooch, and Pluto lacked the Time Key belt, which was one of my favorite details of her in the manga).
I do like the layered skirts of the final forms though, as they remind me of the Seramyu layered skirts that I love so much, but they really are too uniform for my taste. I also dislike those strange poufed upper-sleeves and the lack of a seam below the bust line. Probably my "ideal" fuku would be the final form layered skirts, the bust seam, the Super form long ribbons in the back and shoulder protectors, the first form brooches (obvious exception being Saturn), and the unique details of each Senshi's fuku remaining intact (earrings, shoes, glove length (and detail in the case of Saturn), Mars's waist brooch, Jupiter's pouporri belt, Venus's chain link belt, Neptune's choker brooch, Pluto's choker brooch and Time Key belt, Saturn's brooch, choker brooch, and shoulder "wings", and anything else I might've forgotten).
I also absolutely love Super Sailormoon's fuku, too, I've always found it to be the most beautiful of Sailormoon's forms. The long, sheer ribbon on the back of the skirt, the rainbow skirt, and the sheer shoulder protectors, and the extra brooch at the waist are all beautiful details, while still keeping the fuku relatively "simple".

they are strange outfits...the only thing I didn't like was the poofy sleeves.

Well, it just looks all 80s to me.. BAD 80s.. There's good 80s.. like legwarmers and bright colors and lace and colorful bracelets (MADONNA, Bwuahaha!).. and then there's poofy sleeves. XD

I'm kind of torn on the lack of a bust seam. I kind of like it because it provides a nice flowing look to the bodysuit, but at the same time it makes it look like they just pinned stuff onto a one-piece bathing suit and wore a skirt over it! I would love to see an outfit with the knife-pleated layered skirt, sort of like what Sera Myu did, with the primary color on the top layer and the accent color on the bottom layer. That would look really spiffy.
Oh wow Rissachu, I never thought about the sleeves looking like they're straight out of the 80s. Now I'm so tempted to design a sailor senshi uniform full of neon and fishnet and slap bracelets and 80s fashion trends.

Ugh.. that picture makes the pink stand out way too much. Why IS it the only pink thing on the outfit?! Lol.
